Dear all, I have a big problem here. I have a sony VGN-CR323 laptop with problem can't power on. It won't even charge the battery and when I measure with DMM only the mosfet pointed with red arrow have 19V and the other side is 0V. after I unplug the adapter, the cap connected to the mosfet still holds a voltage and drop slowly. Any ideas from the expert here or any hint provide to help me check? Thanks in advance.

Re: Sony VGN-CR323 no power
Is the mosfet on top of it shorted? These 2 fets are part of a buck controller circuit. Your problem could be in the maxim IC that sits to the left. Your not getting 19v to the other side because the other side is grounded out. This could be a bad fet somewhere else on the board, bad ceramic cap or a shorted PWM controller. In your case.. that Maxim 8632e IC. If you had the proper equipment, you could temporarily remove it and re-test. -
Re: Sony VGN-CR323 no power
Dear mattbrad2, I use DMM to measure the FET's 2 side and it seems not short. I tried to measure 8632e VCC and it's 0V. I've downloaded the schematic and I found that VCC3 is not present. I'm out of idea.Attached FilesComment

Re: Sony VGN-CR323 no power
How are you measuring those mosfets? If either side is shorted to ground, you'll need to lift one side and measure the FET out of circuit. With one side lifted, set your DMM to diode and measure one of the middle pins to one of the middle pins on the opposite side. Flip the probes around and measure again. You should see infinity in one direction.Comment

Re: Sony VGN-CR323 no power
Dear all, I started to suspect the small board with DC Jack is giving problem. I don't have schematics for the board with p/n DAGD1ABB8B0. I saw there's a MAX1908E on it. I measured DCIN=19V, LDO=5.38V REF=4.08 VCTL=5.38, BATT=0, CSIP=0, CSIN=0, DHI=0, DLVO=5, DLO=0. Any hints??? Would it be MAX1908e that caused the problem?Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by PopsCapsI have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times... -
by zwerw3Hello. They brought a personal computer for repair in which the video card was GeForce RTX â„¢ 2060 WINDFORCE OC 6G (rev. 1.0). Graphics core power mosfet burned out.
Is there a chance to restore the site where the mosfet was? I started to grind the mosfet substrate with a dremel, which stuck to the board, but for now I stopped and decided to ask you for advice. I also noticed dark spots on the PCB near the video memory chips. Does this mean that the video memory is out of order? I cleaned the place where there was a burnout, a short circuit of 12 V was removed. On the coils on the power... -
by Thomas SmithHello everyone, I have an ASUS FX506LI laptop that does not turn on, and I need help diagnosing the issue. Here is what I have checked so far:
Initial Symptoms:- The laptop has no power at all (no LEDs, no fan spin).
- No 3.3V or 5V present on the board.
- The power button (NBSWON#) reacts but only changes from 0V to 0.5-0.11V.
- Charger input (FETs PKCH2BB)
- Drain: 20V, Source: 0V, Gate: 0V (FETs not switching).
- BQ24780S Charger IC:
- VCC and ACDET are present.
- ACN / ACP, ACDRV, BATDRV, LODRV, HIDRV, ACOK, SRN, SRP – all 0V.
- Shunt resistor has 10Ω to ground.
