    Sourcing Sata hard drive motherboard connector.

    Hi I am trying to source a sata hard drive right angle pcb through hole connector.I have tried digikey and farnell and they are looking for ridiculous shipping charges, does anybody know anywhere else to get them.

    Only thing i can think of apart from a supplier is a dead motherboard or controllerboard from someones scrap heap. Might be hard to find one though but it would probably be cheaper. Can be tricky to desolder without damaging them though.

      Yeah Ive warped one already doing that n pins dont come away dead straight might try another board,

        I've pulled bunches of them off. The pins slip right back in and will work fine so long as they didn't bend on the way out. Trouble is there are dozens of incompatible styles in any number of colors.

          Yeah pain trouble is I dont have any MB's with through hole one . the rest are all surface mount. Just be handy to buy a couple to have

            That's just it. I have probably 40 in a box and I still don't have complete coverage. Buying only a couple almost guarantees they won't be the right ones when the time comes.

              Might also find usable ones on dead drive PCBs.

              In a real pinch you could clip the end, strip the wires and solder one cable end directly into the holes.

                @severach : point taken you are right it's just I have a network drive that has the same right angle through hole connector as the Sony mobo I'm tryn to fix so 2 would be great. they cost about 2e each and over 20e to ship crazy but might have to bite the bullet.

                @PCBONEZ: good idea a bit of McGuyver`ing might do the job.
