Hello! Embedded Software Engineer here, for fun trying to investigate a friend's laptop not powering up problem – first time opening a laptop.
I have stripped down the laptop down to the motherboard but I cannot simulate the button press or otherwise see anything happening when the power is applied.
Motherboard model TT 94V-0 E326167 <see image Motherboard model.jpg>
As per https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=116266 I could not find the schematics for the board.
More pictures of the power area please see: <Power area top view.jpg> and <Power area bottom view.jpg>
I have blindly guessed that to simulate the power button press I need short to short the contacts here – perhaps that is wrong? Please see <Button press.jpg>
I have also noticed a bit of damage around the power circuitry and the (charge applied?) LED missing, perhaps the damage is causing the problem, please see
<damaged area zoomed in.jpg>
I would really appreciate any comments thank you in advance.
- The physical power button has been broken on the laptop and the friend advised that they needed to poke the area with a pen to get it to start
- Eventually the pen poking stopped working and now the laptop does not power on at all.
