Hello! Embedded Software Engineer here, for fun trying to investigate a friend's laptop not powering up problem – first time opening a laptop.[LIST][*]The physical power button has been broken on the laptop and the friend advised that they needed to poke the area with a pen to get it to start[*]Eventually the pen poking stopped working and now the laptop does not power on at all.[/LIST]

I have stripped down the laptop down to the motherboard but I cannot simulate the button press or otherwise see anything happening when the power is applied.
