I see a 5 pack for $15 out of Hong Kong. $3 seems fair when new from Arrow were almost $1 in small quantities. I looked through my collection of laptop boards and found several of the above MOSFETS including a few SI4392.Comment

The SI4392 on ebay have a different number set on the top than the ones installed on my motherboard. Honestly I don't know the difference, otherwise I'd make a decision about that now.
The 8170's are $15 for two, so I can grab those I guess. I'm trying to get this out of the way quick-like, so was avoiding Hong Kong. I've had this thing laying around too long.

Finally got the parts and the time.
Installed the new parts and bam, laptop will now POST.
Problem is, there's still a bunch of missing screws from the previous work done to it. Now I have to track those down.Comment

i have this same board and replaced both mofets and is kicking the power supply off on overlode i can plug a fan in to supply and it works so i know its good and i can pull 4 legs off 1 side of the mofet (dont mater witch one or side) and it wont set off power supply so im thinking im not far dose any one have any idia were i can go from hereLast edited by beastman2008; 12-05-2011, 07:04 PM.Comment

So, this seems to be a common issue with this model laptop.
I too have the power supply in protect mode when plugging it in issue.
On mine though, nothing is clearly burned.
Both of the mosfets on mine are TPC8107s that are on the underside of the board by the power jack.
One is just 'upside down' from the other.
I'm sure you can see in the OPs pics.
Wondering if replacing both of the TPC8107s there would fix the problem, or if I'd also need to find the Si4392 and replace it.
I know it's an old thread, but if people having this issue see this and we figure it out, it would seem to help many folks.Comment

I ordered a 5 pack of the TPC8107s I replaced all 3 of them on the board. It still goes into protect mode. I've visually inspected the whole board and I see nothing burned or cracked. The video card on this unit did not fail as I put it in another unit and it works fine. Only think I can think of is maybe a BGA failure on the north or southbridge. It doesn't work on a charged battery either. No lights, no nothing. Just protect mode on the PS which works fine on the other unit. Anyone else have any ideas?Comment

I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

I have finished my work. The new lights come on except the one for stereo, I reversed the bulbs to no affect, anyway, the unit powers on, relay clicks. I have no DC voltage in speaker outputs, I also do not have any AC in the speaker outputs. There is some faint crackling in the speaker. This unit cranks up loud so I had the volume on very low. Everything seems to be fine but I can't really check the switch until I can get sound out of the outputs. I was going to do caps for the power supplys and the tone board but thought if it was cranking loud at one time maybe just leave it alone until it...

Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish.... -

Trying to salvage a Bose Companion 5 computer speaker system that powers off shortly after powering on. It's got a primary USB input (built in DAC) and an aux 3.5mm input. The USB appears to be the primarily source that tells the unit to power on (control pod LED goes green) as the unit has no power switch.
When I first connect power to the unit, plug in the USB, it will play audio nicely for a minute before it drops out and the unit appears to go into standby (control pod LED goes red). It stays in standby and I cannot seem to power it back on without physically...02-03-2022, 11:14 AM
