Issues with TPM ic in laptops

Greetings everyone!

I decided to open a separate thread dedicated to TPM related issues.

Before writing about your problem/solution, let's assume that you/we have tried all the steps officially suggested by the manufacturer, but it didn't yield positive results.

In my case there is a Dell Latitude 5480.
1. On booting up, the message "Alert! TPM device not detected!".
2. The TPM settings have disappeared from the BIOS menu.
3. My laptop has a TPM chip (QFN32 IC: NPCT650VB2YX) on the motherboard (LA-E142P).
4. BIOS upgrades and downgrades didn't give a positive result.

Who has encountered this problem and how did you manage to solve it?
By the way, the point is not just to hide the error, but to make the laptop see the chip itself and in the future it should not disappear again with new BIOS updates from Dell.

I had this issue, and after replacing the TPM chip (Dell 5580 and replaced the chip from a donor board
, also a 5580 board) everything worked again.

Either bios or tpm chip issue. Fixed em maybe 20+ times.

Does flashing the BIOS with clean ME solve the problem?

I have tried to flash the bios with clean ME region.
It didn't give any result. Still have a not detected TPM device.

So the next step will be replacing the chip itself.
I have already ordered the new one from China and will write here about the results.

No, not bios chip. this is problem on bios file. i know some one who can fix through fixing bios. but i dont know how to do it
I also have dell 9310 with TPM error, i try more than 10 time do bios fix. but stil TPM display on screen.
i think downgrade ME firmware may solve this problem

Try older versions of bios one by one unless TPM error goes away.

I have tried to downgrade the bios up to v1.6.*.
But unfortunately it doesn't give a result.
The old versions (below 1.9) may just hide the error message but not solve the problem. Also with that versions I noticed that the laptop starts functioning unstable and the windows starts arising some BSOD errors.

Of course not the bios chip. I meant the TPM chip )
As I understand from the forums, there is a way to hide this message by doing some changing in the bios dump, but that's not what I want.

I haven't tried to downgrade only the ME firmware. I don't know, maybe it will work. But I guess the process itself will take a lot of time. )

Just to summarize,
the issue was resolved by replacing the chip with a new one.
The BIOS was able to recognize and initialize the new TPM IC even without a clean ME region, which was tried before but did not yield positive results.
