Acer MB: B5W11 LA-E061P DCIN problem

    Hi

    I have this laptop
    MB: B5W11 LA-E061P
When put dc power on first FET has 19v on pin-5 but after that on +19v_P1 has 0.9v only (fet not switched on) also on main power rail only 0.9V
With battery main power rail is ok, 16V and laptop starts ok
If I short drain-source on first FET then I have 19v on main rail, battery charged but FETs for charging goes very hot
    Any help?

    Thanks

P.S. Just to mention that not have LDO on 3/5alw becouse no voltage IN-19v on drivers ICs, only 0.9v

Re: Acer MB: B5W11 LA-E061P DCIN problem

Thanks for links, I changed both mosfet and still same, even 7002 small fet and still same
+3VLP missing (but missing becouse no +19v on ICs)

i also see not to short mosfets, but Sorin on youtube did many times , but will follow rules not to do again
      Regards

Attach the power adapter. Carefully measure the voltage to ground of each pin on the charger IC.

Post each measurement with the pin numbers for a review.

              Also PQ304
G,S,D ame voltage, should be on gate at least +5v more then source?

I removed this fet and now 19v is ok via dcin
solved, replace that fet and now laptop on,batery charge... source to drain was shorted on fet
              tnx to all

No REGN in battery mode can not be true. And if one measurement is wrong, we cannot trust in any of these measurements since it would mislead the whole troubleshooting process.

It is also in your interest to redo all 40 measurements till we can be sure you did it right.

I tried all measurements to be good,on that diode not has voltage in battery mode, its big diode so easy to test voltage....but maybe you right...maybe gnd moved or similar but laptop is ok now

By datasheet REGN ldo is 6v when ACDET is above 0.6v
ACDET has voltage divider from +19v_vin , which is not present without adapter.

                            by Victor Moreira Silva
                            Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

                            Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
                            CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
                            GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
                            Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

                            The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...

Acer TravelMate P214 - N19Q7 main power rail shorted to ground
                            by mkdj
                            Dear all,

I have taken out the motherboard of a Acer TravelMate P214. There is a short to ground on the main power rail (19V). I don't have the schematics or boardview for this board (DAZ8IMB1AA0 REVA). But I have found 4 MOSFETS close to the main power rail : 2 N-Channel and 2 P-Channel.

I have checked resistance across each of the 4 MOSFETS. I have the following readings:
                            Both N-Channel Mosfets: nothing odd

                            P-Channel MOSFET number 1:
                            source - drain : 117 kOhm
                            source - gate: 96 Ohm
                            gate - drain: 117 kOhm

                            by Nagy Daniel
Hi, I'm Daniel, and I'm new to the world of repairing motherboards.

I would like to create a table, or more likely a guideline about the voltage rails and their possible resistance rail.

I know that the motherboard design has a very big depend on the rail's resistance, but I would like to know what is the smallest value for a rail that can be acceptable. For example, I heard that some new gaming motherboards can have 0,5 Ohm resistance on the GPU rail, but on an older type, it could be a sign of a shorted GPU rail.

So, I generated a table with AI so I can...
