Hello, i have Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-53M3 (FH52M LA-J891P Rev: 1B), on GPU (nVidia RTX 2060) memory rail have ~0.5 Ohms resistance is it normal? or dead GPU?


Prehistory: There was short on main rail, ~0,1 Ohms. Problem was double mosfet AOE6930 who is feeding GPU memory rail, i changed it and short is gone, and laptop turns on, but discrete gpu wont' work, video drivers install was succesfull. Some
insights?

By memory rail, are you referring to the VRAM +1.35VSDGPU power rail? If you had a high side shorted MOSFET there, and this is measuring 0 ohms to deck, then likely your RAM and GPU are damaged. BTW, you should also replace the controller as this often gets damaged in the failure. Or it causes the FET failure, chicken or the egg.

Close to 0 is normal for the NVVDD main power rail. I've had DRMOS (QD9619AQ) short in that area on Nitro 5 and the GPU has survived. But you also need to replace the controller (UP9512Q) and the first input power FET (EMP21N03) as this shorts when you have a dead short on the main power rail.
