Hi I have been replacing a Touch Bar connector as the laptop had suffered liquid damage and some on the contacts have burned (A1990 MacBook Pro). Some on the connection points have disappeared (burned away) all that is left is a tiny dot to solder too. Also have another similar damaged via on the PP5V_3GS rail which is linked to a lot of rails on this board. Again there is a tiny dot which I think is the via to attach too, can these be repaired and built back up to a pad? Is it wise to dig down carefully in the layers to get a good solder connection and build back up with solder paste? just wondering if anyone has any advice or experience of doing this, thanks

Re: Burned via repair
I've used a trace repair kit like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004910688781.html and soldered a pad on top of whatever is left.

Re: Burned via repair
Yes I have a set of those but the problem is the remains of the via are below the level of the board, kind of in a hole, not sure by scraping around the edges I will damage other traces and layers. It seems almost impossible to get a solder blob to connect! Ive just ordered a t30 tip for my Hakko which I am hoping will work

Re: A1990 MacBook Pro Burned via repair
If you still have the via, you solder jumper wire to it (like 0.02mm) then apply a dab of UV mask on the join. Then spiral the jumper on top and tin it to form a pad of sorts. You could apply UV mask on the spiral and scrape the top of it then tin it if you aren't confident.
