DELL Inspiron 15 3567 not powering with battery

Hello Everyone, I hope you are all doing well,

I have a Dell laptop, Inspiron 15 3567, it's only powring up with the adapter not with the battery, but after it's on I can remove the adapter It works fine with the battery, so only the problem is it does not start with the battery even if its attache with the laptop.
battery condition is excellent and the adapter is original, both are detected in the bios. ( sometimes a laptop doesn't start until I disconnect the battery and reconnect it again), I have updated the bios but nothing has changed.

Here's my reading with pictures:

PQ 4416 with battery:
1 pin: 15.9v

What is the logic board number? It should be silk screened on the board somewhere.

Check the condition of the battery mosfet that may be leaky. Also check the 2nd DCin mosfet for the same.

Dell will usually use the BQ series battery charger IC to drive the 2*DCin mosfets. Locate it and post the topside markings.

With adapter:

PL 4401= 0

PQ4410 gate: 1.7v.

board number: vegas turis skl/kbl, 15341-1 / 91N85

both MOSFETs are good and reading on the AD side: DRAIN= 19V. SOURCE = 19V.

Battery side without battery: drain= 19v and source= 0.2v

I am sorry if I missed something but there is no ic with BQ, but I took the photo for power Ic

Well noted. You are correct on the charger IC you have posted and the area of focus is proper for the battery / adapter select circuit.

1) PQ4416 (PNP) may be defective. When PQ4416, pin #1 = BASE pin is 0 volts, a voltage divider is enabled to create a LOWER voltage than the emitter (pin #2) = battery input. By having a LOWER voltage @ base pin of the internal transistor in PQ4416 (PNP), the transistor should enable to pass the battery voltage onto the collector pin #3. Do not see this transistor @ PQ4416 being enabled with the measurements you have posted.

2) See attached. Attempt this bypass method to see if this works for you.

I have checked the trace between C of PQ 4415 and B of PQ4416 and it's good and not cut.

and I have made a bypass as you mentioned now the 16.8v passing to PD4410, but still the laptop not powering on. no 3.3v or 5v.

Is it possible that the power ic is partially broken? Or is there another component associated with the circuit?

Remove the power adapter. Connect the battery. Measure the voltage to ground of each pin on pd4410. Post each measurement. This dual diode must pass the battery voltage onto pin #3 to power the charger IC.

Can you confirm the adapter is removed?

Pin #3 must output the battery voltage, if not, this diode is defective and should be replaced. Then pin #3 will power the charger IC if powered by the battery only.

The adapter wasn't connected but I make a mistake in the order of the pins Im sorry

Carefully measure the voltage to ground of the following pins on the charger IC:

Pin #5 - bgate that is used to enable the battery mosfet. Also confirm the voltage on each pin of the battery mosfet (source / gate / drain). When using only the battery, the battery mosfet must be enabled.

PL4401 should have voltage when only charger is connected. What is the resistance to GND on PL4401? You have not shared charging ic pins voltage specially pin1-2-3-4-14-15-19-20-29-31-32(with adapter only).

Pin2 should be 3.9V as per voltage divider.
Pin19 should be 5V as well.
Check continuity between pin14 & 15 to PR4443.Also check resistance value for PR4456/57.
Pin19-resistance to GND?

There is continuity between pin14 & 15 to PR4443.

the resistance value of PR4456: 1.8M ohm

the resistance value of PR4457: 0

the resistance value of pin 19 to GND: 0.27M ohm

I did measurements without the battery and adapter.

I doubt your measurements. If PR4456 is 1.8M Ohms, then there cannot be continuity between pin15 of charging IC to PR4443,pin1. So what you write here is quite contradictory.
Suggest to recheck my suggestions at post#15.

Hello,

Im sorry I have made a mistake, There is continuity between pin14 & 15 to PR4443.

the resistance value of PR4456: 10ohm.

after a long search, I have found there is a capacitor missing (as shown in the picture) PC4433. so I place it from another motherboard with the same module, and I turn the laptop on it worked fine with the adapter, so I disconnect the adapter and try it with the battery alone but it didn't work (the same issue not powering with the battery). so I connect the battery and adapter together and here another problem came up, the MOSFET (PU4412) shorted, so I replace it with the same module, then the IC shorted, and again I replaced it with the same module, and I removed capacitor PC 4433.

but now the laptop not powering with the adapter, there is no short at the AD side or BATTERY side, and the adapter feeds IC power & 5, 3 v IC but no output.
