HP Omen 15-dc0001nh capslock blinks 5 long and 3 short

    Hi,

I have HP Omen 15-dc0001nh (DA0G3DMBCE0 rev: E) with blinking capslock 5 long and 3 short. Fans spin constans speed.

HP worked for 2 months after i repaired (before damaged by thunder via rj45 port) I removed LAN ic and powered on

    Now with blinking capslock:
All voltage present on big coils, except +VCCGT (i don't know this need for booting)

I tried re-flash bios with known firmware- same result (now i don't have spare bios chip to test spi flash failure)
DDR4 ram is ok, tested on other laptop
WLAN and SSD removed, only keyboard and AC adapter connected

    Parts i changed:
    PCH SR40B
    Thunderbolt controller
    MP2945A
    E6930 mosfet for VCCGT

After power on PLTRST# signal go for a moment 3.3V and after 2.4V (that is not good)
I use for reference NLA_CFL_N17P1.pdf schematic, because for this HP impossible to find schematic or boardview

Maybe next week i'll have preprogrammed EC (IT8987E) chip and GD25B127DSIG bios chip

Any idea, what i check ?

    regards
    Tom

PCH changed this time or on last repair 2 months back?Check whether DRAMRST# is 1.2V-Can be checked on pin108 of ram slot. VCCGT is not relevant now-it'll come up under load.

        No 1.2V on pin 108
DRAM VCC is good,2.5 and 1.2 volts ok.

I think main board not wake up,only power rails on

        Any idea to continue?

Ram is rest by CPU and it could be bios/cpu fault. There should be a pullup resistor for dramrst# ,try to locate it and see if other end of the resistor is indeed getting 1.2V. Visually inspect the ram area for corrossion specially on ram slot. newer HP boards ram slot are of pathetic quality. I had to replace ram slot on 2 boards within the last 15 days and both were HP. Flashing a clean me known good bios may also solve your issue. Visual inspection of whole mb should be done.

              thanks for the suggestion

i checked whole board with microscope, no damaged component, no corrosion, no bad soldering

interesting for clean me bios, but i can't do it, all my utility old, or not good.
where to upload my bios dump to ask clean me?

                    Finally i sorted blink 5/3.....

All components and voltages checked, bios image was good.

I removed PCH (SR40B) and approx 30 ball not connected to mainboard. The PCH come from china as new, but this is not thrue. It was used and reballed.
I'm cleaned PCH and mainboard, reballed PCH, checked all ball with microscope. Soldered it to mainboard, and HP power up, working perfect! All component tested, all OK

                    Thanks for helping!

                    regards
                    Tom
