A1708 backlight doesn't turn off after flexgate "fix"

    Hello everyone,

I have an A1708 MacBook Pro that had a flexgate issue. After jumper wiring a new connector (I followed this video as reference:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylGK...SnJxgQ&index=5) I was able to get the display working again. However, when I tried turning the brightness down, the backlight coming from the bottom of the screen was not getting dimmer (image of the display behavior at the lowest brightness setting attached below). I checked the soldering on the cable again and everything seemed fine. Could there be another issue causing this (for example the other connector) or is it likely that I bodged the connector wiring? Hopefully someone here can help me with this issue, which I'd be very thankful for.

Thanks for the help, mon2. I'll look into it, I might try replacing the connector on the other side as well even though it doesn't look damaged/broken.

A1708 820-00840 no backlight (logicboard problem, not flexgate)
        by drdream
        Hi all,

I was wondering if you could guide me a bit, as I am not experienced.

I am actually working on a MacBook A1708 820-00840 with no backlight.

I ruled out the flexgate issue, because I have a few working board and displays.

Here are the readings I wrote down so far:

        - F8400 13.1V / 13.1V (in/out)
        - R8402 13.1V / 10V
        - C8401 13.1V
        - C8410 13.1V
        - C8412 13.1V
        - C8414 13.1V
        - C8413 13.1V
        - C8466 to C8468 12.83V (which is abnormal)
        - C8475 12.83V
        - R5455 0.0V...

MacBook Pro 15" 2016 820-00281 no backlight. Another flexgate issue?
        by slimmy182
Hello, I bought this machine from a friend. It's a 15 inch MacBook Pro 2016 model, logic board 820-00281. He said that the screen would go off if open more than a certaing angle but it's perfect working whit an external display.

The backlight screen remains stay off even if I open just a little the lid, so I never see backlight work, but I can confirm that LCD show images as using a torch I can see it on the screen. It seems also that camera is not rocognized as the keyboard backlight stay off and touchbar have full brightness.

Is this a classic flexgate issue? I...

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...
