Strange Battery Problem on A1466 820-00165

    Hello Everyone,
I have a 2017 MacBook Air A1466 that will not charge the battery but will run off the battery outside of MacOS. If the charger is removed while in MacOS the screen immediately goes dark, but the fan will spin for another 30-45 seconds before turning off. I replaced Q7155, R7151 and R7152 but the issue remains.
    Ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Try a pram / SMC reset.

How old is the battery? Test with a known good battery.

      Known good battery first, then check in MAC OS;

About this Mac, System Report, Hardware, Power. What info is reported for the battery? Cycles, charge current, etc?

I've tried 3 known good batteries with 315 cycles or less. All do the same thing. I usually reset the PRAM twice and reset the SMC once when doing any battery replacements or motherboard work.

Measure the voltage to ground of each pin on the battery connector.

Post the measurements and pin numbers.

Pin #6 cannot be right. Can you confirm the right value?

Also, confirm again the voltage to ground of pins #4 and #5 of the battery connector.

These must be ~3v42 for each.

Measure the voltage to ground on each side of R5380.

              Then also R5381.

                Pin 4 2.54
                Pin 5 3.42
pin 6 ??? still getting wacky result

                R5380 both sides 14.62
                R5381 14.62 and 0

As per post #3, do you see the correct information about the battery? If you swap in a different battery, does the report change?

We are checking to see if the smbus lines on the battery pack are working correctly or not.

If the battery reporting is ok then the smbus lines are not the fault as they are used to extract this report.

Hi, my dear friends., Maybe this might be a stupid question or something I missed or do not know. I have 2 MacBook Air A2681 (Indentical color & EMC #), both LCD screens broken. Before ordering the LCD Screens I confirmed both worked with their respective batteries & AC Adapters, & they did 100%. The LCD Screens came in today & I replaced LCD for the 1st A2681. (Removed Battery Terminal cable for both Laptops before installation of LCDs). Perfect Screen & Booted up fine. But it did not work with battery. I checked the battery connector & it was seated in well/perfectly....
