    820-01958 no image and backlight

    Hi all,

i am working on macbook air 820-01958 that has water damage on connector J8500 around pin ppvout_s0_lcdbklt and dp_int_auxch_c_n and dp_int_auxch_c_p. i changed the connector but still no image and backlight.
already checked there is no short to ground on this line.

    any suggestion will be appreciated.

    thanks

During a normal boot attempt, are you able to toggle the key caps led on the keyboard? If yes, the operating system is booting and that is a good start.

Measure the voltage to ground of the backlight enable pin. This will confirm if the logic board is requesting for the backlight to turn on or not.

Note, for the backlight to enable, the display must be detected.

What voltage do you measure for the backlight with the display connected?

Using your phone as a torch / flashlight, apply the light on the front face of the display. Can you view any of the standard graphics on the display?

            hi @mo2,

            sorry for the late reply.

voltage to ground for backlight enable pin on Q8400 Pin 3 is 2.07
voltage on this pin when plug the adapter is 12.46V
already try to use flashlight but cannot see any backlight or image at all.

Measure the voltage to ground readings for:

              EDP_BKLT_EN
              BKLT_EN_R

So the display is not being enabled.

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode.

Check the resistance to ground of these same signal lines.

In post #8, missed that these are diode mode readings, not voltage readings.

Meter in 20v or higher dc volts scale.

                        Measure each point to ground.

hi @mon2, i set the multimeter as you can see from the picture and red probe to ground and black probe to the measurement point.

if you mean the voltage for these pins than all are 0V

Dears, this is my first post here and first try to fix my own laptop Apple MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch Mid 2015.
I have some general electronics troubleshooting experience and still as my hoppy but this is my first laptop trying to fix.

History: my laptop backlight stopped working without any reason.
                              Symptoms:
I have image on screen using my flashlight.
I have fully working laptop with the help of my external SAMSUNG LED tv via HDMI cable.
Keyboard backlight still working and can be adjusted normally.

Since two days I tried to follow all similar...

This chinese all in one computer gives an image when connected to an external vga monitor but only the backlight with integrated monitor (no image). Initially I thought it was an edid problem on the eeprom of the screen but then I saw that the monitor works correctly with another identical motherboard (model th410-d4, read by bios). Unfortunately the motherboard is chinese and has no brand or codes on the pcb. The format seems ITX. Nothing can be found online. The official yashi site provides drivers but not the bios. The electrical diagram is obviously unobtainable

                              Hi all
I have a Macbook Pro A2442 with the 820-02098 from a friend which has no picture on the display, however, the backlight works.
He was streaming a football match on a questionable site, then the site crashed, and the problem emerged.
Initially, he sent it to apple, who quoted him £1323.95 to replace the display, lid angle sensor and top case.
Obviously, he decided against this and gave it to me so that I could have a crack at it.
From initial diagnostics, I connected to an external monitor, I first tried with a HP 22W monitor, and I booted into the boot menu...

                              Hi everyone!

First post on here so do tell me if i'm doing anything wrong. I have a laptop that came in with a broken hinge, but a healthy LCD. We replaced the LCD rear cover and now we do not get an image on the LCD anymore, though we get one via HDMI. There is sadly no schematic or boardview available for this motherboard (Bucks U42 DIS 17817-1) as far as i can tell, but I was able to identify which of the important pins on the LCD eDP connector (30 pin 2 lane) correspond to which pins on the motherboard display connector (which is 40pin, 30 for LCD and 10 for camera/face rec etc)...

                              CASE DETAILS

Promblem Signs: Backlight on 1 sec off 7sec > repeat && Red standby light: 1blink, off 3 sec, 2 blinks, off 5 secs, 2 blinks, off 3 sec, restart cycle

13V present on powerboard output. Backlight continues flashing after removing cables to pannel one at a time and even with both disconnected. NOTE: backlight STOPs flashing and remains on when connector between powerboard and mainboard (note Tcon built in) is disconnected.

Tried inserting firmware on USB and left it in for a few hours, but no change
