repaired macbook air 820-00165 with my finger!!

hi all , just wanted to share my latest and crazies macbook repair.
i got non working board from a friend and generally when it write the problem 99.9% is it.
if he say no backlight then most of the time it's the blown fuse or bad ic backlight.
this time i got this 820-00165 with no backlight sticker in it. so i went straight to test fuse and after fuse was ok i replaced backlight ic as it's very cheat (2€).
after that i still see no backlight, but then noticed lvds connector got corrosion under bl pins. i replaced lvds connector but still no backlight. i measured then voltage on bl diode and found both side were 0 vol....
i said maybe it is not posting and infact connecting external lcd i didnt get anything.

i inspected the board and found 3 capacitor near smc that were reworked with some corriosion reside. i cleaned everitning and checked if pad under caps was ok. after all was goot i was almost giving up . a clenaed board in the ultrasonic didnt show any under pads corrition so u cant know exactly where was the problem before they cleaned it.

then i started touch whole board while fan was spinning... u know one finger with some very small wet in it and applying some pressure near the red marked zone and with my big surprise while touching i got apple logo and after a while i got folder mask.
when i power off then on the board i got again the no post error... i touched again the board and when i touched the area near u3210 i got image again.
i think problem was or u2940, or smc itself that was heated near it with hot air and with the glue still near it.

i then applied flux in the red are and started reflow all component near it lifting and put back in place and also did a smc reflow.

after that mainboard is working fine. i power on off and it works like normal...
    hope this can help

ps: this is not the actual board picture , it's just to show the area.

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
      by envym
      Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
      by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
      • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
        • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
      • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
        • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
      • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)
        • This

MacBook Pro 820-01987- condensation damage repaired but has sensor issue
      by gurj1979
      Hi guys.
Got a customer MBP 2020 which has a dad of corrosion from condensation, resulted in no power at all.
I replaced the corroded components and repaired the traces. Restored power and now Iccan get to login screen.

But when the CPU gets warm (not hot) and fan gradually starts spinning faster and then MBP turns off. Pressing power button turns it back on for couple of seconds then it turns off again.

Seems sensor related, but it won't even let me get as far as running the built-in ASD.

I can get back to you later with the components...

      by obelix24
I’m working on one macbook air 15” m2 that was water damaged.

keyboard, lcd, microphone connectors were damaged so i’ve replaced all of them and without screen connected macbook worked fine. Keyboard &trackpad and also lid sensor was working fine.

i’ve put macbook in shelf and order new screen so i can fully repair it.

Now i got the screen and macbook stays at 5v 0a.

i’ve tried if it’s not in DFU with another macbook but it’s not detected at all.

i don’t have schematics so i don’t know where to start can someone help me?...
