Ultrasonic cleaner but a bit faulty.

After a not very cool noise and the display dimming my ultrasonic cleaner powered off. The display and fan work, just nothing happens when I press the ultrasonic button.
I think it's at least the triac that is at fault (on the small PCB), showing 57 ohms between pin 1 and 3 and possibly one of the relays (marked in red), I was hoping someone might advise. Thank you.

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner but a bit faulty.

The 57Ω might just be the gate resistance, It looks like the cleaner uses two seperate outputs to drive the transducers, I would think you could disconnect it to eliminate it as the problem.
What is wrong with the relay? the line marked in red is likely the normally closed position (will check shorted). It looks like the relay is there to short out the two diodes, Likely to run the second output module it supplies at half power when the diodes are in circuit, then full power when the diodes are shorted by the relay contacts.

Both fuses seem to be ok, I would check the 4 output transistors but I suspect if they were bad the fuses would be open.

Thanks R_J, yes, I suspected the relay as the diodes showed as short, but if that's as designed, it's ok. The fuses are ok, no shorts on the transistors, the only other thing I found strange was the 57Ω between pin 1 and 3 on the BTA41600B but you think that's also ok.

The gate resistance is likely ok, I would expect if it was bad it would be shorted T1 ~ T2 (1 ~ 2) Is this resistance in or out of circuit?
That small board is connected to the mainboard (CN1?) which seems to control the a/c voltage to the second output module

Yes, measured out of circuit and yes the small board connects to CN1 and the 330k pot on the front controlling the power.

measure the resistors. They may look good, but yet out of spec. Big or small resistors, doesn't make a difference with this Chinese stuff... at least that is what I learned.

There are a couple of components mounted to the bottom of the tub (red & white wires) it seems to connect between neutral & the PTC connection
The white plug with the 5 wires is +5v, ground, and the 3 relay coils via resistors. the other ends of the relay coils go to (-)
              Maybe the microprocessor got confused?

Thanks CapLeaker, I checked a few but i shall check the rest in good light tomorrow.

Yes R_J the twin red and white wires go to a pair of PTC heating elements held on with aluminium tape. Tiny things for such a large tank, I don't use the heater.

The bbzzeert noise when the display dimmed came from one of the bottom boards rather than from the display board that has the micro on it.

How does the bottom of the second output module look? no burnt connections? It could be a bad transducer, but it sounds like something arced

There are many versions of cheap Chinese ultrasonic cleaners, and a fair few share this design, with a removable tank with handle. There are also fixed tank versions which look to use the same basic layout and presumably the same PCBs.

I picked one up "spares or repair" on ebay, and the cleaner was dead, but the fuse wasn't blown.

A quick diode check revealed D7 was shorted. D7 is a 12V 1/2 Watt Zener. I had one in my stash, so this was about as close to a "five minute repair" as...

What Zener Diodes on a Linear Power Supply
                    by caspian
                    Dear members,

I have a linear variable power supply with unknown brand name that I used for voltage injection.
Then it failed. I discovered that its transistors (Q1 and Q2) are shorted.
In addition, I discovered that its zener diodes are defective.
I can replace the burned transistors.
But I do not know the model of the zener diodes. the model number is not marked on the zener diodes.
Therefore, I cannot replace the zener diodes.
I do not want to test the zener diodes in a test circuit to discover their model or value.
                    no schematics are available...

                    Hi everyone!
I have this board that suddenly stopped supplying power to an output that drives an interchanger cleaner motor.
I checked while the board was in place with all wires attached and there's no AC voltage on the corresponding plug X5
This X5 is driven by fuse F8 (tested OK) which comes from the second orange relay
To make sure there are no charcoaled contacts inside the relay, I got a 24VDC power supply and got it ready to manually power up the coil side of these relays.
I respected the polarity, positive to cathode of protecting diode
                    So provided all...

                    Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
                    by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

                    Hi fellow lifesavers.

I have a Samsung washer-dryer WD80N645OOW which died mid-cycle. No response to anything, completely dead.

Checked the socket, the plug fuse, all good. Took it out to examine the boards.

There is a relay clicking on the mainboard. Upon applying power, I can see a diode flashing on inverter board, after a while a diode on main board lits up for a split second, then I can hear a relay clicking. This repeats a few times, then everything dies completely.

I've been trying to examine the main board, but it's a bit difficult becuse...
