Capcom CPS1 with Unicon and Tk capacitors

Hello. I have a broken Capcom CPS1 A board that uses Unicon and Tk capacitors. These electrolytics are only in the audio section of the circuit, the rest of the board has ceramic capacitors and tantalums. In my experience the Tk are almost always way out of spec.

I wonder if these capacitors may damage other parts of the circuit in spite of being only in the audio section. I've read that the custom chip CPS-A-01 has an exceptionally high failure rate, would be possible that these capacitors affect it when the board is running? apart from the risk of electrolyte leaking, would be electrically safe to run the board with the stock capacitors?

no, the caps are only for audio.
and because the board is not enclosed they dont usually fail.
the audio cpu does - it's the wrong part number.
they used a z80 and overclocked it instead of using a z80a.

so what's wrong with your board?

Thanks. I was looking to get a working CPS1 board and this is good to hear since I don't plan to use it enclosed. Yeah, I heard about that Z80 issue and I already got some Z80A replacements

I got this board as seen in the photo and I've not tested it yet since it lacks some 74LSxx integrated circuits so I have to solder them first, and I also need B+C boards... dunno if just connecting the A board gives some useful output. Any other think like check for short circuits or voltages in the connectors to check before plugging a game board?

I attach some photos of the board as I got it. I already cleaned the flux residues in the custom chip.

no idea, i never tried to run one without the full stack.
strange that you even have it like that - there must be some bitch collecting rom boards like game cartridges!

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
          by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
          • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
          • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
          by Hakuu
          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.
