Failed R400H hot tub control board

I recently went out to check on my hot tub (DreamMaker Eclipse) and found that it was not working. The topside controls were functioning but the pump would not come on. I noticed that I didn't hear any of the relays click when I pressed the buttons. I proceeded to take the control box (Consumer Engineering Inc R400H / LBR400H) out and noticed that it smelled like magic smoke. Once I got it apart it became fairly clear what the issue was. The first relay appeared to switch power on to the other three that controlled pump high/low and heating element. The trace feeding power into this first relay had burned away. I suppose a bad solder joint had deteriorated over time and eventually arced & sparked and finally went open.

After doing some internet research I decided to replace the relay that had the burned pin (AZ2150-1A-15DEF) as well as the the other three (AZ762-1A-12DE). To top it off, there was also a bulged capacitor, TCI brand, 2200uf 35V that needed attention.

I was able to find the exact replacements for the relays and the appropriate Panasonic NHG series cap at onlinecomponents.com.

To help bridge the gap around the burned trace on the main relay, I used a small piece of 14ga copper wire and lots of solder. The tub is now up and running again and hopefully this reconditioned board will work for years to come.

    Good repair job, bluto!
Even though the original electrolytic capacitor was exposed to low frequency ripple, such units can still fail (although not as often when exposed to high frequency ripple).
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

The 8P8C is for the top side control panel.
The others are for the temp and flow sensors.

Not to be pedantic but RJ-xx means 'Registered Jack' aka 'Connected to phone company equipment' aka standardized ordering codes when you want a jack installed.

8P8C is the connector name when not hooked to phone company equipment

No Ethernet to send out tweets on this tub.

Speaking of which, does anyone remember the hamjudo.com guy that had his hot tub temp displayed on the internet via a cgi script circa 1994?

Maybe I need to do that.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

LG 60PK550 Logic Control Board EBR63450301
          by Yanleb
Hi all, I just want to share the repair of my 60PK550-UA TV set.

The TV set was powering on, just no image. After verification, nothing wrong on the YSus or ZSus boards. Nothing wrong on the main board either.

But I noticed that the LED was not flashing on the Logic Control Board. This is an EBR63450301. The LED is supposed to flash even with all the flat cables disconnected, with only the power cable attached.

All the voltages measured at the electrolytic capacitors on the board were good. From top left to bottom right:
          C57: 3.30V
          C61:...

          Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
          by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
          by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
          • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
          • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
