I would look over the power supply board carefully as well. I fixed one of these for my parents several years back. The one large filter cap on the power board was bulging. It caused two diodes to burn up and also burnt out one of the windings on the mains transformer. There was no fuse to protect against this situation and the burning silicon smell in the house with no apparent source really freaked my mom out. Replace that cap or leave the unit unplugged when not in use.
