0.01 AmP Short on PS5 motherboard

I am working on a Playstation 5. I have all the power rails present but Blue Light of Death. I have provided 12 volts and 1 amp from bench power supply. I receive a 0.01 amp draw of current. Any ideas? Just in general. Anyone ever seen this small of a short on a printed circuit board? Acts like a crack in board but none present. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

while your at it, dump the syscon flash and post it here with the model number.

Yeah he sure is. Been watching his repair posts fot quite some time. Not sure if the current flash on this chip is even solid yet.

That’s not a short, 10mA draw is just what the board it taking but it’s not right, looks like it is stuck at the POST boot. It should increase to around 300mA when you apply power then settle down to around 70mA of I’m not mistaken.

The only info you have here is that the power on sequence is not happening if it just takes 10mA as soon as you apply 12V And hold there.

You need to do more fault finding, check all standby voltages, check for shorts on power rails (what is the actual resistance from the rail to GND), check the caps behind the south bridge, check around the SSD controller, etc.

Could literally be any number of things.

Thank you. I added more pieces to this puzzle here. Please reference and let me know your thoughts. I bought a known good EDM-020 with a PSN ban. Just to get known good standby voltages and compare. I also ordered a Southbridge. PS5 BLOD- CFI-1115A Disc Version- Board= EDM-020

9th Gen Dell Optiplex Micro PC motherboard repair: Short Circuit?
            by Geeker007
Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is...

MacBook Pro 14" A2442 Short on PPBUS_AON but no short present when injecting voltage!
            by Stephen
I check PPBUS_AON and there is a short present on the line, the computer shows a short when testing for short to ground, so when I inject voltage into the line, I get 0AMPS so no short is showing up. I have replaced a blown cap on this board that exploded and tested for the short and it is now removed. Any suggestions? I tested voltage at the line when the fuses are connected and I am getting 1.2 Volts at the line.

Asus ROG ga401IV motherboard - AC Short Protection resistor getting hot
            by gaelican
            Hi,

I am working on an Asus ROG laptop repair. I was able to find that there is a short on the motherboard, and the 20 volts from the charger only gets to the first mosfet before disappearing.

When looking around with a thermal camera, I noticed the chip marked "14C" in the picture was getting warm. Nothing else was receiving heat.

I found a boardview diagram and schematic for a motherboard that looks nearly identical, that has the same component. This appears to be marked as "AC Short Protection" with a value of 13.7KOhms.

Beginner question. Did I find a short?? HP dax31mb1aa0 REV A motherboard
            by Mess

Hi beginner here, so I'm not sure of I've done this right 😅 trying to diagnose my laptop's motherboard (dax31mb1aa0 rev a). I don't quite know how to read the schematic, so I'm attaching the pictures of the motherboard and the measurements.

I was attempting to measure resistance to GND on inductors. I disconnected motherboard and used "continuity testing" setting on my multimeter. I put black probe to Ground & red probe on an inductor. Did I measure this right? Am I correct to think that 0.3 ohm measurement indicates a short circuit? Thank you for your help!...

the comon problem they say , the charger will shut off power once plugged to laptop , i dont have battery, its long gone ago , i use it for backup with adapter and vga port to external monitor(yes no screen lcd) in case my desktop needs fix . one thing for sure i could say the clr resistor - r010 beeps ,short at both sides , the checked all the coils , the 3 coils together gives all of them beeps short along with their respective capacitors . i dont have voltage ampere injection dc machine as in videos i have seen they see where its getting hot and they remove the short and replace components...
