ASUS Prime Z790-P WIFI D9 BIOS Trouble

Failed BIOS flash caused no post/fan spin/flashing power led. I have backed up both chips (8 & 16mb) after failed flash. I extracted BIOS from ASUS site and flashed it to 16MB chip but same problem. It appears the ME version in the backup is very old (16.1.25.1865) and not even listed in the ASUS downloads page so I assume the ME update failed. I tried extracting the ME firmware from new ASUS bin/cap file and flash it to the 8MB chip but same issue. Not sure what to do to recover from this. Any help appreciated.

You're doing it wrong, the .cap from ASUS website is 24MB, open with UEFITool and "Extract as is" the Intel image, or trim the first 000-FFF from the .cap downloaded from ASUS website, then you have to split that to 8MB (from 0-7FFFFF) and 16MB (the rest)
Also you want to transfer the serial number, UUID, MAC address, from the 16MB chip it's at 64000h-6419Fh (there's a Win key there too) and 290000-2900CFh

    Version 1820

"Update the Intel microcode to version 0x12F to further improve system conditions that may contribute to Vmin Shift instability in Intel 13th and 14th Gen desktop-powered systems.
Updating this BIOS will simultaneously update the corresponding Intel ME to version 16.1.32.2473v3. Please note after you update this BIOS, the ME version remains the updated one even if you roll back to an older BIOS later. "
More detailed info here (it's for another ASUS Z790 board):
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...wifi-bios-help

    In short
Join both files 8+16MB from the 2 BIOS chips
Use FD44Tool to open the 24MB file, take note of serial/UUID/MAC address
Extract the .cap downloaded from ASUS websie, then split to 8MB and 16MB
Search with hex editor for serial number on 16MB backup, copy the blocks containing it to their respective locations on the new split file

The 8MB contains the ME region, ready to use, split from the .cap

Here it is, ready to flash into both chips, already inserted your board data into the 16MB file

    PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4

First boot may take some minutes

Thanks for the help. I did get it working now with your BIOS files, but I had tried both bios sets posted here and it still would not post. I had to go down to 1 stick of RAM before it would post (based on suggestions from the link provided to other forum post). I put the extra RAM back in after and it seems to be ok. Running a RAM test to be sure..

        Thanks again!

Activation of Management Engine after exchange Z590 chipset - ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS
          by DynaxSC
Hi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.

For lower chipset families (on ASUS boards) it worked to program the oldest bios version into the SPI rom, and the bios had activated the Management Engine itself by default - there was a message on the screen prior booting - "BIOS is updating Management Engine ..... . Do not shut down to prevent...

          by RotVik
Hello, I need a little help

I got an ASUS PRIME B550M-A AC Motherboard, bad BIOS, it wont display or boot, unless I did CMOS Restart first, after that It will boot but if I modified the configuration of the bios and saved it ,again no image

I got the BIOS .CAP file from ASUS official support, used a tool called ASUS CAP to BIN, and programmed it to the IC, soldered to the board and got it to boot correctly, all the way to Windows, but now the CPU fan stays at full speed all the time and if I try to power it off with power button it will restart instead, and there are...
