    R9 290x GPU Dead?

    Hi everyone, just got a R9 290x. I checked the main rails and seemed the resistances were present, then I connected it to the test bench and found 12v - 5V - 3.3V - 1.8V - 0.8V present. Forgot to mention the card was probably water cooled, came as you see in the picture with some coating probably to protect the components from condense (?) I am not an expert. Anyway no image is shown and apparently not even the System is booting. When the system is booting usually my keyboard light up but it does not when the card is on. Tried to not connect the two 8 pins or to connect only one, the system seems to boot but no image and the gpu does not get hot. Then I thought to take a closer look at the gpu because there was still lots of thermal paste and found two corners kind of crushed and around the frame this liquid metal balls. Not sure if the balls are liquid metal used to cool the card or comes from overheating in the area, now, I am not an expert in graphic card repair but I believe the GPU is gone. What do you think? Thanks for any reply I am still learning and every case is very educative.

      Water-cooled? Aren't those coating stuffs used for extreme overclocking with liquid nitrogen? I am not nearly an expert either, just started learning but if what this guy says is anything to go buy, I would say the core (GPU) is dead.

          You are right, it's a kind of liquid coating for extreme LN overclock. For some silly reason, I didn't think that also GPUs can be overclocked with LN.

          Yeah at the end I think it's completely dead.

              Hello everyone, I have a very interesting issue on this M1 i haven't seen on previous gen intel boards.So i'll give the back story on what happened to this mac.               Hi all,

              As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

              I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

              Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

              I got this set for very cheap, it works perfectly but the catch is that the protective coating was damaged. About 45% of the screen had a green tint, you can see exactly where the layer changed colors to a blueish tone (that actually makes everything green).

              How to clean Liquid Metal from under CPU?

              Hi all, Im working on a board, that my customer brought to another shop, and smeared liquid metal all over the board.
              The laptop powers on, then shuts off. I noticed traces of Liquid Metal near the edge of the CPU, but I fear some maybe underneath.

              Has anyone ever tried Ultrasonic cleaning, or compressed air to remove or agitate the liquid metal?

              Hallo Friends
              i had liquid damage on USB C Jack on Macbook A1534 emc 3099.
              The board numer is 820-00687-B. I think it is similar or same 820-00244.

              The motherboard locks very fine but the USB C Flex wire is damage so i have buy from Ali new wire.

              But the power Consumption on usb c is 20V and 0.7 Watt but the board is not starting.
              i measure 3.3 V and 8,5 on Battery connector without Battery.

              Is it possible to Test the Motherboard or start the Motherboard without Battery?
              because the Battery is damage i measure only 0V on Battery but...
