    Gigabyte nVidia 6600LE - 6.3v 1500uF KZJ

Random crashes started a couple weeks ago, got to a point where the system would black-screen a minute after startup.
Inspecting the video card shows 3 x 1500uF 6.3v KZJ caps are bulging and have a bit of ooze at the top.

Now using a 15 year old PCI VGA card until a replacement is found. Sloooow.

KZJ are failure prone. If you want to repair the card, I'd replace them with Rubycon MCZ. The owner of the site sells them:

    https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=40

Make sure to replace all the KZJ caps, even those that may not have failed yet.

I see KZG. Those are prone to fail too. I'd replace them if you're going to be repairing the card.

The green ones look like KZE, but I can't tell for sure. KZE is usually reliable and doesn't need to be replaced unless there are obvious issues.

I see KZG caps there too. They are just as bad. Replace them too.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

i see a missing 2pin fan connector on the left. passive cooled card?
if so, no wonder those caps failed.. i'm kinda suprised how long they lasted. (nippon chemicon KZG and KZJ can't stand heat. at all)

Sorry for the bit of crossposting, what I should have said is to verify the graphics card for bad caps as well.

Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…
Interesting parts about the failure analysis are "Why Nvidia's chips are defective" and "Why Nvidia's duff chips are due to shoddy engineering"

May complete this post at a later date with more details.
Basically issue is a combination of thermal dissipation of the chip with hotspot,...
