    MSI 8600 GTS problem

A friend complains about his computer. He says that sometimes it boots normally, but sometimes there is no signal on the screen and the standby led is flickering.

    His pc is an athlon X2 5800+ 2GB DDR2 2xHDD 320GB SATA, psu amacrox 600W etc.

He has 2 x MSI 8600 GTS connected in sli mode. 3 months ago he put the vga cable at graphics card #2 because he stopped getting any image from card #1 and the sli option disappeared in windows.

I went there and found out that the metal cover of the slot above the gpu #1 has fallen into the card, as seen at the photo , possibly shorting some pins.

I removed the metal cover and tried again the card but it didn't work.

The other 8600gts was ok, so he thanked me and gave me the faulty gpu to test it home.

When tested on a pentium 4 3ghz ht, pc boots, intel logo appears normally, but some seconds later the screen enters suspend mode..

What could be the cause of the problem? Is it repairable?

    G84/G86 fail-GPU + passive cooling -> dead cards galore..

don't bother trying to fix it. it's most likely the GPU itself..

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
          by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
          1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
          2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
          3. Problem: TV shuts down

          i have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

This is a very weird problem and super annoying, so if someone who has experience with this, can explain why this is happening, then I will be grateful😁
This happen usually when the laptop has been moved. from one room to another OFF charger for some hours, but has also happened when laptop has been shut down and left ON charger over night, and not moved :

I turn on the laptop normally by pressing the power button briefly, then power comes on and Power LED and Fn LED turn ON/OFF constantly (no post and no beep codes)

If I(and this is my only option at this point),...
