Abit KT7A raid. Raid trouble - badcap?

    Hi.

    I have a Abit KT7A-Raid v.1.2.
1 of the 2 raid chanals have stopped working.
everything else seems to be ok. It is my server so I don't sitt by it all the time though. And thinking back, sometimes it has been rebooted.

I have looked at the caps and there is 4 1500uF caps that has gone bad.
I have recaped the board with 4 new once, and the computer is stil booting

But my raidcontroller is still not healty... anyone know if this is a cap problem or something else?

you need to finish the recap job.btw bad caps on these boards cause corrupted raid.
fix it right before it costs you important data.

So it is a cap problem?
You know witch one? The others seem ok, but they might not be...

The trouble is the price of the caps. The 4 caps I bought did cost me 16$, so if I need to change the rest it is just not worth it when a new mainboard cost me under 80$

So if u know what caps make my raid-controller healty...
Or if you can ship me caps for a nice price to Norway....

At the very least, anything 1000uF and above. Check the bad capacitors list. If it's on the list, the safest thing to do is replace it.

What kind of caps did you get that you paid $4 apiece for them, and where did you get them? A good supplier of components overseas has been RS Components. Their Norwegian website is http://www.no.rs-components.no.

            Abit ST6-Raid repair
            by tbalint3
            Hello All,

I am trying to repair an old Abit ST6-R motherboard.

            The symptoms are the following:
I got it in a non-working state. I was told that it sometimes turned on, but many times just the CPU fan was spinning and no other signs of life, the board didn't POST, and now it doesn't POST at all.

It was full of bulged electrolytic capacitors, so I replaced all of them with new Low-ESR ones, but it didn't solve the problem.
If I install a CPU in the S370 socket, only the fans are spinning and no POST. There are no beep codes even if the RAM DIMMs...

Abit BX133-RAID odd issue, bad caps?
            by PeTTs0n
            I just bought a bundle with a Abit BX133-RAID, a 866MHz P3 (SL4CB) and a 256MB PC133 SDRAM stick, that the seller claims were working fine together.
After building a rig out of it, with a known working PSU (Seasonic S12II 520W, for its good 3.3V and 5V rails), I get a good startup screen, but as soon as I try to enter the BIOS, it locks up with a blue bar across the bottom of the screen.

I have seen one thread from 2010 about this issue specifically on Vogons, and the consensus there was that bad caps may very well have something to do with it, and although I can't see any...

ABIT KT7 RAID only POSTs every other time
            by canadaboy25
Hey guys, I have an ABIT KT7 RAID motherboard that will only POST every other time I try it.

When first powering it up, all the fans and drives spin up but I get no display and no beep. If I then turn the switch off on the power supply while it is running and wait for everything to stop and try again, it boots up just fine and works great until I shut it off.

It doesn't matter if it has sat for a while or if I was just using it, it always takes exactly 2 tries to get it to POST.

Rebooting from windows also doesn't work as it just hangs in the exact...

Recap motherboards :: Abit KG7-LITE and Soltek SL-75FRN2-L
            by Foetuss
            Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)
