processor and chip core video test points

    Hi friends

I don't know if there is already a topic about it

but I want to know how to measure with your test points

How to measure them, when they are in bad condition when they are short

    with multimeter

    some help?

    Thank you

Re: processor and chip core video test points

Yes you can check either the voltages or the resistance on the capacitors here.

Typically for a Northbridge /PCH you will have three different voltage rails, one or two will be present in standby before you press the PS_ON switch

On a GPU there are usually three or four. Again one of these is a standby or startup supply typically 3.3V. The others will usually be GPU core (around 1V, often very low resistance <1 ohm), GPU+RAM supply again around 1V-1.1V and typically 100 ohms, and sometime another supply rail with high resistance. I'm not sure what this one is, possibly a bias or Reference voltage.

Here is a real life repair where I found the fault on an MSI Gaming Edge motherboard using this method by checking from the PCH capacitors

Here is another one where I measure the GPU resistances on a good graphics working card
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc3E4oR_o_Q&t=435s

Also if you look on my YT channel you will see series of several videos regarding 8800GT graphics cards where I also look at GPU resistances, voltages, and short circuit tracing

    I hope that helps.
    Rich.

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
      by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Common SPI bios chip programming Questions and Answers
      ----------------------------------------------------------

      Q: I have a bios request,i can`t post my backup as i can`t read from the chip.

A: If you can`t read from it how do you expect to write to it ?.

Q: Why is my bios chip unreadable ?.

A: The programmer is faulty or has a worn or broken zif socket.

The USB cable is frayed, connector pins worn or some other physical damage.

Not enough amperage or voltage to power the programmer properly.

CH341 disconnects, test clamp not working, soldered bios chip but not erasing/writing how I fixed
      by Sparklingx
      Hi,
So i've bough a ch341 programmer, and the chip was CH341B . the test clamp was not working( when connecting bios using test clamp, ch341 device was disconnecting) I tried soldering the bios on the provided board, soldering the bios I could read the chip but could not write or erase. ASprogrammer , neo, ch341a programmer... all programmer software was hanging and device was disconnecting after few second of erase/write operating.
So then I have soldered a capacitor(whatever I had..[10v ~470uf ] ) from VCC to GND on my provided pcb where you solder the bios

      now all...

LED Strip test points and testing?
      by lmcancu
Hi is there a guide in this forum on how to test the LED backlight TV strips? I purchased an LED tester on amazon, but I am a bit confused on the test points and how to test the individual LEDs? I took apart a RCA 43" TV Rlded4331b. Please see attached pictures. I understand that all the LEDs are in series, but on these strips I don't see any individual test points for each LED? Any tips or guides?
      Thanks in advance...
