    ABIT KR7A-133 bad caps

I have an Abit KR7A-133 (no RAID) with bad caps. About 1/3 of them are physically bad (venting/bulging). The rest look physically good. I currently don't have a way to test the caps so I was wondering if I should replace them all anyway or just the obvious ones?

The symptoms (worse over time till it wouldn't stay on) were verticle multi-colored lines that I had to press reset to get rid of them. They might not re-appear for a couple of hours or a few days. And the computer would just turn off and not boot again (non-responsive) until you unplugged it from the wall for a few seconds.

The caps are Jackcon, Nichicon and Teapo. Caps near the PCI slots appear to be OK. Only bad around memory slots, CPU, AGP slot and Power Supply connector. Actually only two caps are venting. The other bad caps are bulging. All of them around the top of the capacitor.

So, again, replace the bad ones or replace them all? The motherboard was somewhat working when I finally took it out to check for the problem. Got to where it would not fully boot up. Also, is there a similar Abit motherboard with a kit available that I could use or just order the caps seperately?

    Thanks for any replies.

change the lot - saves having to constantly check it or dissasemble it again.

        Re: ABIT KR7A-133 bad caps

I got my caps today and was going through them. Everything is good except the 1000uF 10v caps I ordered. I recieved 1500uF 10v caps instead. They are too tall and will interfere with the PCI cards. How can get the right caps or caps that will not interfere with the PCI cards when installed?

The old caps were just below the PCI slots. The new ones are about a 1/4 of an inch taller than the PCI slots.

        Thanks,

Topcat has 1000uF 10V Rubycon MCZ in 10x12mm, which should clear the PCI slots.

I ordered a few caps from him a few weeks ago. Decent price, very fast delivery, and the capacitors were recently manufactured. All in all, I was very satisfied and would recommend ordering from him. Many other forum members would echo that opinion.

            Thanks,

I didn't mean to appear to be complaining. Was just wondering how to get the right caps and return the wrong ones. I Thought I had ordered the
wrong ones until I checked my order. It could have been a simple substitution. They just won't work as they are too tall.

I sent an email to the admin address that came with my confirmation letter.
I was surprised to recieve the parts so quickly! Great service!! Just need to get the 1000uF 10V caps to finish it up. I would definitely ordr from him again though.

Can't wait to see if replacing the bad caps will fix my board!
