It's a Galaxy GeForce 7950 AGP video card. Two of the caps are bloated. both are 470uF 16v. There are some other FZ which look OK, but I'll relace them too. 3 other 470uF 16v, 2 16v 220uF and 5 6.3v 1500uF. I'll post some pics later. I'll probably use Rubycon MBZ or somthing similar to replace them.

Re: Another video card with Sacon FZ
Re-capped it (finally). I replaced the 3 larger 470uF 16V with Sanyo SEPC Polys and everything else with Rubycon MBZ. It works good enough to get into windows but I haven't tested it beyond that.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I accidentally bumped the card while it was running. Now it's fried (won't even POST).

Re: Another video card with Sacon FZ
I have a non-working PC with a bad video card, a Club3D GF6600LE with Purple Sacon FZ (with K vents, not fake-poly).
I wonder how many different looks of these FZ caps exist.Comment

Re: Another video card with Sacon FZ
boatloads. they are on mobos too.
fz are special as they are hands down the most violent exploders. they go off like a firecracker, guts are spewed everywhere, nasty to clean up.sigpic

Could still be repairable.

Re: Another video card with Sacon FZ
It was just a small bump, nothing knocked off, shorted, etc. I suspect it may have caused an arc in the AGP slot (a bit like if I had tried to hot-swap the card). It's definately dead. I tried it in another motherboard and it didn't work there either.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

Re: Another video card with Sacon FZ
My DMM died, so I have no idea whether or not the caps are getting any voltage. I'll try re-soldering the joints, although I doubt if that will fix it.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

Re: Another video card with Sacon FZ
Wasn't implying a cold joint. Meant that you could (simply) be looking at a bad transistor/diode/FET that may prove an easy fix. DMM problems aside, if the voltages are missing, that would be where I would start looking.
Hopefully the GPU is ok.veritas odium paritComment

Re: Another video card with Sacon FZ
I realised that you weren't suggesting a bad joint, just thought I would try it anyway. I'll have to get a new DMM before I can test for missing voltages.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

by sam_sam_samThis is from my son’s gaming computer that at first had minor overheating issues when playing a very intense game with it causing the computer to crash or reboot
Then bough a new motherboard and a new computer case that a cooling system in it already installed also brought the cooling system for this video card but now the issue with it is that it randomly rebooted screen goes blank randomly and suddenly video freezing or started with video being there then blank screen and then the video comes back or it just stays blank for a while and then maybe it will come back but it... -
by gcrezzThe issue with this video card is the HDMI port. Specifically on pin 19 (Diode checks on all other pins are normal). When i do a diode check on it from the pin on the board itself, I have nothing. There is also no short on the pin. Resistance reads about 200k. Normally on any HDMI pin 19 I would expect some voltage drop anywhere from .5v to 1.2v but here, I have nothing. The card is operational and can be used via the displayPort ports, but not through the HDMI. Attached you will find the pdf schematics for the card on page 22. I have verified that all of the resistors on this line before the...07-25-2024, 09:49 AM

by doorzonHi all,
With the outrageous prices of new video cards out there I've put some more effort into trying to fix an older card (repairing stuff is always a good idea in my mind, but the learning curve for the video cards seemed steep).
The video card is of GTX 1080 type (GP104 chip) that does not show up on the PCIE bus BIOS overview. It also does not provide any signal out on any of the ports (figures I suppose if is not seen by the motherboard).
Card type:
