ASUS P5E-VM DO no boot with a twist

So I have this P5E that doesn't boot. As soon as the PSU is turned on it spins up then stops. I was poking around with a screwdriver on the header panel looking for the Power Switch pins and must have inadvertently touched the Speaker connector pin to the power switch pin. The board booted into the BIOS! I turned off the PSU, downloaded the manual and found the pinout. I connected a pushbutton switch to the correct Power Switch pins and turned on the PSU. Same deal as before, without pressing the switch the board spins up with no display then shuts down. When I press the pushbutton power switch the board spins up, stays running but no boot.

There are no standard KZGs on this board, there are a cluster of what seem to be polys
around the cpu under the heatsink. They have no vent on the top. They are 4v 680uf TWV and look like UCC caps to me.

So in summary, it looks like I accidentally applied +5v to the power switch and it caused the board to boot into the BIOS.

Like to hear your ideas on this. Thanks in advance!

It was a RAM issue. Moved the stick around and got "60" on the first two slots, then "d4" on the remaining two, using my PCI code reader.

Tried single-sided Samsung 1GB stick and it booted up. Gave me a "fan error" the first time, but after that it worked. The PC mouse port does not work. I only have the one stick of the Samsung RAM. Will try moving it around and see what happens.

Found a lot of people online having RAM problems with these boards.

So when I attempted to boot this morning with the same ram that worked yesterday, I am now getting 60,85,60,60 on the code reader. A second try got some 2 d4 codes and 2 60 codes. In other words whatever controls the RAM is inconsistent. Suspect this board is trash

u can try cleaning the dimm slot contacts on the board with a q-tip dipped in ipa. do the same for the ram module goldfingers as well. sometimes u get inconsistant ram issues due to dirty dimm slot contacts.

try that before giving the board up for focked...

ASUS ROG Ally X - (Handheld Gaming PC)
          Model No: RC72LA
          Serial No: SBNVKD001014459

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

Nintendo Switch Oled HEG-001: Second-Stage Boot Failure
          by privato89
          Hello everyone,

I'm facing an issue with a HEG-001 motherboard that is unable to complete the Second-Stage Boot. I'd like to start directly with my conclusion, which is the decision to replace the MAX77621AEWI chip, and understand if it could be a correct evaluation.

Before I dive into the process that led me to this decision, I want to mention that I have a fully equipped lab where I can perform any kind of tests.

          Let's begin:

Following some guides online, I tried to understand how the Boot phase of the Nintendo Switch works, and what are the...

          Asus GL731GT Boot loop
          by trbovan
          Laptop is a GL731GT with the I7-9750h and GTX1650.

          Full model number is gl731gt-rb71-cb
Serial: (placeholder for when I get home)
          Board model: G531GT REV. 1.5

Issue: Laptop was password protected with admin password. I extracted the Bios with the CH341A and ASprogrammer. I Initially saved the backup. I then scoured the internet for a rom to flash to the chip. I found a file and flashed it. I then read it back to verify and mistakenly over wrote my backup of the original Bios.

I assembled and tested anyway. The bios worked, I was able...

Asus laptop won't boot (no power) - possible bad caps?
          by jrodefeld
I would like to see if anyone could help me salvage a very expensive laptop that is no longer working.

          The model:
          Asus Zenbook Pro Duo UX582L

I have used this laptop lightly since I purchased it new in 2022. I have always taken precautions to take care of it the best I could, and have never done anything that would risk causing damage to it or shorten it's life.

However, around six months ago, the laptop stopped working on battery power. It continued to work fine when plugged in, but as soon as power was disconnected,...
