Laptop is a GL731GT with the I7-9750h and GTX1650.
Full model number is gl731gt-rb71-cb
Serial: (placeholder for when I get home)
Board model: G531GT REV. 1.5
Issue: Laptop was password protected with admin password. I extracted the Bios with the CH341A and ASprogrammer. I Initially saved the backup. I then scoured the internet for a rom to flash to the chip. I found a file and flashed it. I then read it back to verify and mistakenly over wrote my backup of the original Bios.
I assembled and tested anyway. The bios worked, I was able to enter setup, no password, memory and the SSD were detected properly so I thought all was well.
I tried to boot from install media and every time it gets to the blue windows logo and the loading dot circle appears it crashes and begins to boot loop. I attempted other versions of windows as well as Linux to get it to boot. It seems they all get to a certain point and crash. I am able to boot into a Ventoy disc and successfully ran Memtest and a few other tests but still can't boot anything else.
I also downloaded the bios updated from Asus for my model and it successfully updated through EZflash.
I noticed the rom I used was labeled as I5-9300h instead of I7 but the I7 is properly detected by the bios and system info on the ventoy disk
I looked over the Bios Guide thread. I learned a lot but Im having some difficulty following.
the only other thread I found was https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=91956
It seems they were having the same issue but no solution was posted.
My request is: Is there a way to remove the boot logo and/or show Post errors on screen by editing the Bios? Possibly a "stop on error" setting?
I also would like to try a different rom or one that has fresh ME firmware or cleared of info that may be preventing my system from starting.
Attached: Rom that I flashed and the EZflash file downloaded from Asus support
