Hi everyone,
I have a vintage Sony GDM-FW900 crt monitor that I really enjoy using, but it has developed a problem and won't start up.
This unit was completely serviced a few years ago by Unkle Vito in Los Angeles and it fully passed all tests, was factory calibrated, etc. There was a faulty part (can't remember exactly which one) that was replaced at another repair shop about a year ago. Other than that, it's been working great.
I just say all that to say that this unit is probably in pretty good shape since it's been fully serviced and checked recently....

Sony GDM-FW900 - Help Me Fix It?
I've been having some trouble with my Sony GDM-FW900 CRT monitor off and on for the past six months or so.
Usually it's been working okay if I keep it on all the time. If it gets turned off, then I'll have a hard time getting it to turn on again. It will either display an image for a second, then turn off and the green light will turn to yellow and blink.
Sometimes it won't turn on at all and will immediately start flashing yellow.
I shot a video of what it's doing:

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
My name's Jacob and I found this forum browsing online. I've been increasingly using CRT monitors the last few years because of the well-documented advantages in many areas.
However, these old monitors tend to fail quite often. I'm hoping to learn a thing or two about keeping them running, maybe doing some basic repairs. From what I gather, there seems to be some valuable information and really smart folks on this forum so it may be the best place to find what I'm looking for. Hopefully I can contribute something...
