I found a bulging cap near the power connector on this board. It is above the cap I'm measuring in the picture, you can see the empty spot for it on the board. It is a 470uF/16v made by G-Luxon. It is an LZ (low impedance/high frequency) cap. I removed it and took an esr reading. As you can see in the pic, 2.2 which is about 10 times the .2 or so value you would expect in a typical electrolytic, would be lower in one of this spec. I was not experiencing any problems, but decided to fix it anyway. Desoldering this particular cap was tough because it is on the ground plane which sucks the heat. I would suggest tackling this job with good equipment, not a cheap RS pen type, would most likely damage the board. Replace with a good quality cap, if you go to the Luxon site, they give some recommendations for similar caps of other manufacturers in their substitution table.

Re: MS-7255 v1.0 Bad Cap
What's markings on the other capacitors if they are OST, G-luxon etc time for full recap but be advised that chipset is VIA. Notorious for problems, best consider getting another board that uses Intel chipset and rebuild it instead.
PS on this MSI board:
Get the northbridge chipset heatsink off, make sure it is heatsink compound not double sided sticker (semi-transprant) which is not a thermal sticker.

Re: MS-7255 v1.0 Bad Cap
ESR is more like 24-25x what is should be.
Data sheet for G-Luxon LZ 470uF/16v shows ESR at 0.093 for the 8mm and 0.085 for the 10mm.Mann-Made Global Warming.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

by jb_BakHey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.
Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

by canadaboy25I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.
The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.
I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was... - Loading...
