    Abit AT7 Acting weird

    Hello,

My Abit AT7 is acting strange. It'll POST and everything, but it won't detect a keyboard. (It's all USB, and I tried my keyboard in all 6 USB ports on the mobo). My keyboard light's won't even flash when I power my machine up.

I checked, and there are 2 bulging caps around the top 2 USB ports, and 7 more bulging caps around other parts of the board. Could this be the reason for it not working? It was working before, and the caps have always been like this. Now, all of a sudden, it doesn't work anymore.

Could these caps also be the reason why some of the USB ports don't even work...period?

    Thanks!

Yes, that's very probably the reason of your problems. Could you post a picture of the board so we could help you out?

Do you have a PS/2 keyboard to test it? I know in all of the motherboards that I have, USB keyboard and mouse support is disabled in the BIOS if it gets reset. I would think that a USB keyboard will not work if it is disabled in the BIOS. Do the USB ports work for anything else? Don't know if it could be a capacitor issue but it could be I guess.

Sorry, I can't get any pictures.

the board is all USB, and there is no Ps/2 on it
i took it down to a pc repair center, and they're currently replacing the capacitors

        thanks guys

          820-3437 motherboard acting weird.
          by bridges_4u
          Hi there,

I have an 820-3437 motherboard which does not show any signs of life when using an OEM charger. But the magsafe light comes up when connected using a fake charger. While using a fake charger, the fan spins for may be 10 seconds and stops. Then the loop continues. Almost every power rail is up, but with 0.2-0.3 V drop. But I do not get a display, but sometimes does. While powered using the fake charger, the CPU seems to be burning hot. I got display at about 3 instances with the fake charger.

But with the OEM charger, no signs of life.

          Any...

(Weird) BIOS info for HP Pavilion Aero 13-be1021AU
          by Loki_Fido
          Hi folks,

This HP Pavilion Aero 13-be1021AU came to me for a repair. And it seems to have a weird BIOS chip. (Pic attached)
I asked my CH341A to read it and doesn't even know what to do with this. We are both very confused.

          BIOS - XMC 25RU128CH10 (1.8v)

What the heck is this? I looked all over the MB. This is the only bios.
When I asked the NeoProgrammer to detect it, it just pops up an empty screen, and asked me to enter the bios number. And when I did, it doesn't do anything. NeoProgrammer showed me just this SPI ID: 204418. Don't know what...

HP Inkjet printer main board bulging cap failure
          by howardc64
Fixed a 10yo HP inkjet with a bulging cap on the digital computer power rails (1 to 5V). Unstable voltages causing these inkjets to not boot properly or crash quickly. Seems like more and more of these are showing up nearing the 10 year mark. Board design seem to look similar for many of these printers.

Recap motherboards :: Abit KG7-LITE and Soltek SL-75FRN2-L
          by Foetuss
          Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)
