    GA-6BXS and GA-BX2000 with 330uF Choyos

    Hi,

Recently acquired a few of these mobos. They're equipped with 1500uF Sanyos and 330uF Choyos. Most of the GA-6BXS has only its SCSI connector working, the IDEs are dead, and the BX2000 are completely dead. No bulging on the Choyos, should I replace them?

    Thanks in advance,

    yes.
i just had 4 ga-6bxds in for recapping that were unstable.the choyo's were not bulging but a scope test showed lots of noise.
esr tests showed them in the high teens of ohms.
they also stunk like rotten fish when unsoldered.they had leaked enough to dry out but not be visible.

330uFs are not easy to come by. I had a GA-BX2000+ with "STONE" capacitors 330/25V (all bulging, several leaking) and replaced all of them with 470uF/16V Rubycons. Works like a charm.
failure is not an option. it is a chance to success.

I've been going through my systems, and came across one, today which has a GA-BX2000 board with bulging caps at the AGP slot, and RAM slots. The system has an FSP supply, which also has caps going out on the secondary side. It was also the dirtiest system I have ever opened up--dust completely caked on several portions of the board. The PII-400's heat-sink is totally full, and the fan-blades have about 1/8" of crud built up on them--I can't believe it still spins.

It booted and ran, but the inspection I did after-the-fact compels me to recap this board, and refresh the system from the ground, up.

            HELP: 330uF tantalum capacitors
            by dhan
            Hello Everyone,
I'm just a bit curious or let say uncertain for these caps.

I have tried to replace NEC tokin 0E907 with 4 pcs of 330uF 2.5V.
            the laptop works fine.

then another laptop (different laptop) came after a year, with the same issue.
but this time I have a different type of 330uF tantalum caps.

the one I've used before was 330 with small letter e on the markings.

e = 2.5V, but this time I have 330uF with letter d on the markings
d= 2.0V, right? correct me please.

the question is, does 4 x...

Telefunken LED TV with no standby linght equipped with Vestel 17IPS20 PSU
            by ray14324
            Hi everyone,

Searching the forum revealed loads of issues with this type of power supply board however I could not find a solution to my issue from them. Excuse the "another Vestel" thread

The full story was: my Telefunken TV did not have a standby red light after of series of power outages in a couple of minutes. Sadly in my rural city the only technician that fixes TV's is away these days as I cannot reach him by phone. I want to try to have a go at it (with the internet's help).

Reading into this symptom the general consensus was that...

            2 no-POST Tyan Tsunami S1846 motherboards
            by mrmazda
I have twin S1846 boards that won't any longer POST, and Slot1 Coppermine 700MHz and Katmai 600MHz to fit them. A slocket with 933 Coppermine won't POST either, No beeps. The graphics card does put a cursor on the display on power-up. Mixing the parts up doesn't change anything. Three different PSUs, and other RAM sticks don't help either. If there's anything on the web about S1846s routinely dying of old age, I've yet to find it.

            These have 5 UCC LXF 1000uF 10V 10x20mm (codes 8(2) &4H), 4 Sanyo CG 1000uF 6.3V 8x11.5mm, 1 Gemcon seriesless 330uF 16V. All are near CPU slot. All...

            55PFL4908K/12 DVB-S tuner not available
            by Ierwin
            Hello everyone,

I have a rather strange problem with this Philips I just repaired.
The set came with startup problems, I checked the PSU, found some puffed caps, replaced them and now it is starting perfectly.

According to the philips website this tv should be equipped with a tripple tuner.
However there is no option to scan for satellite channels in the menu.
It only shows the option to search for DVB-T or DVB-C channels.
The set is equiped with the F-type connector in the back so to me it looks like it is indeed equipped with a Sat tuner....

            Crucial MX500 2TB
            by Barcar
            Hello badcaps community,

My Crucial MX500 2.5" SSD died suddenly. It's not recognized in bios, disk manager or even with a USB adapter.
I gently unmounted the disk and I noticed 2 discolored inductors:

Above a new one found on the internet and below it's my SSD, we can notice the 2 discolored inductors circled in red

I also found this video on youtube where the technician works exactly on the same board revision (23-A1). He also has an inductors in bad shape but it seems that he needed to remove a faulty...
