Re: P4C800-E Deluxe
Hi All,
I had such a board with a blown off VRM south from the memory slots. Though it still booted, it stopped at the POST screen. After replacing the VRM, now it stops with A4 error code, with no VGA output. Any idea what went wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Wigyori

Yep, I recapped it - some of it were already replaced with Yageo caps, seems like it was taken to someone at the first round earlierI'll ask them if they know something about these.
Well, I get caps from a-store-on-next-corner, not a distributor or a wholesaler. They have Yageo and G-Luxons, not quality caps, I agree, but haven't had problems with these new ones since I began recapping a year ago. About the prices - given in HUF:
1000uF/10V (YAG) - 23HUF
1000uF/16V (LUX) - 24HUF
1000uF/16V (YAG) - 45HUF
1500uF/6,3V (YAG) - 24HUF
1500uF/16V...

willawake, you seem to be an expert of these VL6s
I've got a piece of this mobo, doesn't even power up, the PWRBTN pins has ~2.5v on them. Do you have any idea what went out to lunch?

Mercury 845NDFSX
845D mainboard, equipped with 2 DDR + 2 SD slots.
Usual report:
9x 3300uF/6.3V OSTs,
4x 1500uF/6.3V G-Luxons,
15x 1000uF/10V G-Luxons.
Mobo was brought in being "flaky" by a customer, had 4 of the 3300uF caps popped, replaced all caps, now stable for a day with a 1.9GHz P4.

Yes, a Mercury 845NDFSX mobo was on the operating desk
Mmm, I don't think I would surprise (all of) you, nearly all the ISPs have the same datacenter feeling, large racks, some Ciscos, some rackmountable boxes, some tower boxes, etc... but if I get the chance, I'll post some pics...
BS? I don't know this term.. (bullshit maybe?)
bushytails, I think you got familiar with the RPMHowever, we shouldn't start a holy war here and bomb

willawake, I'm pretty sure I'll run Ubuntu on it, I hate Redhat, got no time to get to know Centos, and Ubuntu looks 99% the same as Debian does, which runs on the current P3/866... Solaris10 was chewed a bit also, but found the same problem with Centos - no time to bench it and getting used to it, on this platform...
About the datacenter, I would also LOVE to take some pics about it, however the NOC guys don't allow customers to enter the serverroom, to my greatest regret.
For the pics about the opteron, this way pleasehttp://virtual.engicomp.hu/~wigyori/opteron248...

Because the CIO would beat the sh*t out of me
Actually I'm going to stress it for a few days before putting into the datacenter, just to make sure I won't have any nighttime calls from the CIO screamingIf you need any info about this mobo of lspci/anything (UbuntuLinux is my favor on A64 platform), just PM/mail/etc me.

Due to the "cost-effectiveness" of the company (we have a very nice word in hungarian for this: "szarrago", I'm sure that you also have some other word) a max. of 8Gb will be used in it - which is still very nice IMHO. It's the Flashcomm server mostly that eats up much of the memory...

MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0)
This has a small SMD part missing south of the memory slots, pics included below. Does anyone know what should this be? (Mobo powers up anyway, of course no POST, no beeps, and it doesn't blow up the CPU inserted into it.)

MSI K8D FA4RM
Hi,
You can find some pics about these mainboard here : http://virtual.engicomp.hu/~wigyori/msi_k8d_fa4rm/.
Looks like I'll have no prob with the caps on these - at least I hope
(Nice bitch anyway, AMD8111 + 8131, 2x Opterons, 12DIMM, 4SATA, PCI-X all around, integrated ATI RageXL, etc, was bought for webserver and video streaming.)

Talking about Chaintech, I have a CT-7AIA0 (KT133) board, filled with D.S. caps. Haven't had the time yet to fix it.

Could you give me some recommendations about equipment to measure caps? I'm thinking about buying a Supco MFD-10, cheap, could be put into my pocket, etc... Note: I don't plan to do hundreds of boards, just need a cheap - but correctly working - gear.
TIA,

Would be hard to believe Nichicon manufactured or relabeled some shittycons..(couldn't it be some kind of faking?)
Yesterday it got out that Asus put shits onto its boards, today Nichicons bulging.. What's next?
(sorry, I'm a bit(?) unhappy and angry.)

You'll find some pics I promised about this XFXForce 865ALX-PE mainboard here: http://virtual.engicomp.hu/~wigyori/xfx_865alx-pe.
Some notes: The Jackcon 1000uF/6.3V are 0207 timecoded, the Elite 3300uF/6.3V are 0224 (as you will see), and the Elite 1500uF/16V (near the parallel port conn. are 0119 (!)
If you need more pics about this, just PM me.

I'm not very surprised on this, I had some XFXForce 865ALX-PE mainboards, equipped with 3300uF OSTs and 1500uF Jackcons. Most of them are being brought back by the customers because of BSODs - I don't know how many of the boards will have bulging caps, will post some pics.

Hi,
I think everybody knows the layout, ZX chipset, shitty Tayeh caps, no bulging, but the boards are dead. Any idea?
Thanks in advance,
