55PFL4908K/12 DVB-S tuner not available

Hello everyone,

I have a rather strange problem with this Philips I just repaired.
The set came with startup problems, I checked the PSU, found some puffed caps, replaced them and now it is starting perfectly.

According to the philips website this tv should be equipped with a tripple tuner.
However there is no option to scan for satellite channels in the menu.
It only shows the option to search for DVB-T or DVB-C channels.
The set is equiped with the F-type connector in the back so to me it looks like it is indeed equipped with a Sat tuner.

Could it be possible that philips equipped this tv with an F-connector but not actually capable of DVB-S2?

Or am I just blind for not findinf out where to setup the receiver?

inter factory service menu and from there choice option to reset it

There is no "reset" option in the service menu, but I was able to turn "virgin mode" on, which lead to a new setup dialogue at the start. But still only option to scan DVB-T or C.
I also checked all the option codes and they are identical to what is printed on the lable on the back

then go here and download early firmware ( PM1013E_003.020.000.001 (Date published: 2018-07-18))with upgrade_loader to roll it back early version in case there some things wrong with firmware

after downgrade do virgin mode and check

Ok, so I downloaded
TPM1013E_003.020.000.001 (Date published: 2018-07-18) (Upgrade_Loader)
and put it on the USB stick but the tv did not recognize the update file.
Is there any special process to install with the upgrade loader?

Next I tried
TPM1013E_003.015.000.001 (Date published: 2015-12-17)
It installed flawlessly, I switched virgin mode on again and restarted, but afterwards no change. Still only DVB-T and C in the initial channel setup

Then I tried
TPM1013E_002.030.000.001 (Date published: 2013-10-02)
and its still the same.

Really like there was no DVB-S tuner, but I can see it with my own eyes

upgrade loader need the USB stick formated FAT32 in MBR mode

could you upload photo of the main boards ?

BTW there are are option in service menu Tuner Type option should be

I did not take pictures during the repair but I can open up the set again tomorrow.

Attached are some screenshots of service menu. It looks a little different than what I have seen from other philips tvs durng my research and there is no menu item for tuner configuration.

Now I couldnt wait to see if this is more than a dummy conector.
It says "094G DVB T17G" and the connector is labeled "SAT" on the plastic back cover.

look on the back side of the main boards.... it could be NTSC C not SAT, it sold in USA / CANADA with same 55PFL4908K but F

The tv is from Germany with a 230v PSU, so I'd say it is highly unlikely.
I wouldn't even mind if it was simply not a DVB-S capable TV.
It just annoys me to no end that I can not find any proof that it isn't a tripple Tuner aside from the software not giving me the option to scan

BTW show me NVM editor option and sub folder

The tv is from Germany with a 230v PSU, so I'd say it is highly unlikely

you are not the real owner of set age from 2013 LOL how if the MB replaced and just Option No. updated

you are right, I do not know the history of the TV so there might have been a weird replacement going on.
It might even have been sold not advertising it as a SAT capable TV at all.
I took some screenshots of the menus but there isnt much to do unless you know exactly which value to store to a certain address

for me its just HW mixing.. see yours MB in set and the ORG in market,,

I guess you're right.
