Desktop PC bios requests go here -> https://www.badcaps.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15

Download the bios from the support page https://www.asus.com/supportonly/max...helpdesk_bios/
Extract from the zip folder then open the *.CAP file with UEFITool https://github.com/LongSoft/UEFITool..._A57_win32.zip, select "Action - Capsule - Extract Body" that will remove the CAPsule header leaving you with the 8,192KB 8MB bios .Rename it from *.ROM to *.bin if you like, its the same thing.

PCH or SIO Dead? Maximus VIII HERO
          by baticzek
Hi yall (sorry for my english)
I got an Asus Maximus VIII hero board that didnt start and react to power button at all. cmos and bios resseting didnt help so I shorted the green atx_enable wire to ground inside the 24pin atx plug and the board startet but code 00 was displayed. After that magically the powerbutton started to work again, but now the board only gives Q-CODE 00. The CPU gets warm and all voltages seem okay. All fuses are good and crystals seem to work. The pch gets warm. I tried reprogramming the bios chip and resetting cmos etc, but it didnt help me. I have boardview for this...

          KM400-M REV 1.0B Socket 462. Replace capacitors.
          by Oldschool297
I got a bluescreen error in Windows Vista Ultimate and after a restart i got Bios checksum error and A: error. I do not have a A: drive. Now the screen only is black, the fans and harddrives start but the screen is black. I tried my graphic card in another computer and it worked. I also tried to remove the memorys. Can it be the bios or caps? It start with the bad caps but no screen is visable. There are 6 bad 6.3v 1000uf. I got 6.3v 1500uf but i guess these won't go?...

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
          by double_DD
          Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...
