After years of throwing bad boards away I finally got tired of wasting otherwise decent boards due to bad caps. Due to the great information on this site I've revived my first two dead boards.
An EP-8RDA and a EP-8RGMI. The 8RGMI had a single 470u out by the memory that kept it from booting and was an easy fix. The 8RDA had 4 1500/6.3 and 4 1000/6.3 teapo (t-blows) obviously out on it. My current fix works (passes memtest and boots) but is only temporary, as I scavanged other teapos of a board that had been cracked in two before the caps had time to go out.
I have a few hundred UCC KZEs of different sizes on order now, and a stack of mainboards waiting to be rejuvenated. Hopefully I can dig up a digi-cam and get some photos of my progress.

But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
