Burnt resistor MSI B550 Tomahawk Max

    Hello everyone

I have an MSI B550 Tomahawk Max Wi-Fi motherboard that has burned out components. See photos below.

I tested the rest of the board, and everything seems to be working properly and stable. I tested it in-game with a 1650 GPU, just in case, and in Cinebench.

I didn't install an NVME SSD on the first port but only a sata 6gb classic 2.5 inch ssd

I checked the warranty on the MSI website, and the board is still under warranty until May 2026, but unfortunately I don't have the receipt to request an RMA.

Is there anyone who knows who could confirm what theese components are for, whether they can be repaired, and whether there is a security risk in using it this way?

    Thanks.

        Thanks noname2024.

What are theese resistors on the motherboard for? What exactly does it control?

i think you're new in this job, let me correct, that component you point is not resistor, that is capasitor, they filtering main power 12V before enter into ic, you can open the boardview
you can remove that capasitor was broke, or replace it if you have, and dont forget make sure doesnt short in that way after your remove or replace capacitor,

Thx for your help. there are 2 dead capicitors : the main we can see on my photo et a second one much smaller on his left.

i have removed them with a soldering iron set ti 15w and i hope nothing has been damaged on the pcb, could you confirm ?

I need now to find the correct capcitor reference for both.

How can i open the board view ?

I usually take Capacitor from another board, if you dont know how to check the capacity of capacitor, you can take it from same area on the board, for test you can turn on your motherboard and ignore broke capacitor, I don't think it will make much of a difference for the time being, until we make sure the machine is running normally, if you want to replace the capacitor then that's better.

                LED uplighter dimmer burnt resistor
                by CG2
I've got a 240v LED uplighter which isn't working. Pulling it apart shows a clearly burnt resistor on the circuit board, and I'm hoping some of you will have suggestions on what to replace it with. First, here are some photos. Power comes in, through the fuse and choke, then through the big blue variable resistor labelled B500K (ignore the similar blue component at the bottom - it's a simple switch for an attached reading lamp). It then passes through the burnt resistor (or at least did once), through diac DB1 and the unburned 30 ohm resistor to the gate of the triac. Now I assume there's a simple...

Allen & Heath Xone:02 (DJ Mixer) - Burnt out Resistor
                by trickartt
                Hello Badcaps!

I am trying to troubleshoot my Allen & Heath Xone:02 DJ mixer. I have had this for somewhere close to 20 years and have played music through it in one form or another pretty much every single day since I've had it, though these days it's usually from a wireless streaming receptacle (Apple Airport) more than the turntables that are also connected to it.

This week my music stopped working, and after a bit of a wild goose chase, I realised my mixer was dead. I checked the 500mA fuse in the device beside the power supply and found it was blown, so I replaced...

                Hi

I have an Ersa rds 80 soldering station which has developed a fault and just showing err on display
I have found a burnt resistor on pcb can anyone help me identify this resistor if you have a circuit diagram or similar unit
The printed circuit board markings are rd80 ver 2.0 and the resistor in question is R6

                Many thanks...

First post -Intel NUC 10i5 -BXNUC10i5FNH not powering on -IC burnt- request for IC details/datasheet
                by electomech-fixer
                Hi all,
I came across this very active forum with knowledgeable folks on electronic circuits and components, while google searching for the details of my burnt IC marked 7603 in Intel NUC board. I joined this forum today and this is my first post here.
I recently got an Intel NUC 10i5 and had installed Linux Mint and was using it for about a month when it died suddenly and did not power up after that.(Power Adaptor is ok). When I opened the NUC , there was a burnt IC marked 7603 (and ILCB in second line). I am unable to find the details/datasheet of this IC. I will be grateful if...

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
                by jinu_j
                Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
                4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...
