    Aopen AK77pro

My friend called me up saying that he thought he had a weird virus or something. He said that he kept on getting strange blue screen crashes with windows xp.

He also said that the bsod's occured after he did a full format and restore. This is the motherboard:

      Indeedy!!

He dropped the computer off at my work (i wasn't there) and called me up a few hours later. While we were on the phone, he was describing the problem, i realized it might be bad caps so i went and opened the case and found the dead ones.

I told him on the phone that he had a bad mobo with bad caps and I never even bothered powering the system up. I just tore it apart and took the mobo out. He's just going to buy a new mobo/cpu combo to replace the xp2400/ak77 in there now (he didn't want to worry about waiting for the cap kit to be delivered) . He just said for me to keep the 2400/ak77 so I'm going to recap it and use it for something.

I'm actaullly suprised that the system even posted looking at the condition of that really bad cap that looks like it was a firecracker that blew up. LOL
