    Abit BH6 design questions.

Well, I'm refreshing some old hardware as a project system. This consists in part of my old BH6 with P3-500 which I so dearly loved years ago. I'm gonna recap the regulars with Samxons, but the board is littered with other smaller caps. Some of which are just the likes of 10uF and 22uF, which will get Panny FC's(no 4mm in FM), but then there are these 100uF caps, some of which surround the RAM slots and reside in-between the bus slots.

On other(albeit newer) boards I have worked on, these 100uF caps are usually the likes of about 1000uF. I was going to replace these with equal value polymers just to them out since they are so small, but could it be a benefit to move these guys up to a significantly larger capacitance or should I just go with the 100uF polymers?

would be fine.the ones between pci slots are on +5.they have it easy unless caps open in psu.
increasing to 1000 may not give any apparent improvement in stabilty but it cant hurt.

Except that there is one in-between the ISA slots, too! What if it's on the 12V rail?

Recap motherboards :: Abit KG7-LITE and Soltek SL-75FRN2-L
        by Foetuss
        Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)

Bricked HP Probook 450 G7 Bios questions
        by studdy05
Hp Probook 450 G7 s# SCD0348W35 had a locked BIOS. Bought BIOS and EC chips off Ebay that were supposed to match this machine - the 450 G7. Flashed in the BIOS on chip i bought using a CH341. BIOS unlocked next boot. Some error to contact HP. Entered BIOS and reset to system defaults and rebooted. Machine worked fine but every cold boot the contact HP message popped and everything else worked as fine. Assumed the error was from EC chip not matching BIOS that i just flashed in. So i flashed in the EC that was supposed to match from the EBay chip i bought and instant brick.

        Ive got...

Questions About USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and USB4 Designs: Type-A vs Type-C, MUX Requirem
        by electronx
        Hi everyone,

I’m currently learning about the USB protocol and designing a project, but I’ve encountered a few questions that I couldn’t find clear answers to. I’d really appreciate your input!

        1. USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 with SuperSpeed Type-A Connector
According to the USB 3.2 specification, it states that USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 can support a SuperSpeed Type-A connector. This raises a question:

If we use a SuperSpeed Type-A connector, the system would only utilize 1 lane for data transfer, leaving 1 lane from the host unused. Is this configuration valid,...

        Abit BE6-II motherboard
        by ziplock
        Greetings,

I have an Abit BE6-II motherboard that posts sporadically with the bare minimum components installed - CPU, RAM, PSU, and a Keyboard. I know it posts when the speaker beeps. Re-seating the components has no effect.

I thought the sporadic posting might be capacitor related. Upon inspection, non of the caps are bulged or leaking and they are all original. So, I pulled them ALL. While the ESR is OK, over half of them are leaking current between 1 and 2 mA. The biggest offenders are way out of spec, like a 1500uf / 6.3V measuring 2600uF and many of the 820uF caps...
