Bloody hell. I got MSI K8N Platinum but it does not POST. Not sure if it is old BIOS (with Opteron 180), incompatible memory, graphics or anything else, but I am not able to solve it now. I am going home in like 10 hours so I will just have to leave it be :-(
As for the DFI board, I have noticed one small SMD transistor which may be burned on the board. The other ones around are glossy, this one is not and has something like excessive heat marks. Fuck me! That transistor was good. I was messing with diodes when I encountered one which seemed to be bad. OK, took it out. Measures good? WTH…placed it back in…and it works fine ever since with several restarts and messing in BIOS!
May it be something like tin whisker?? It's a bloody DFI after all, they wanted to be first everywhere…it may have included PB Free stuff.
Will be doing more extensive research tomorrow with the original CPU (Opteron 180) and RAM (4 GB high-density) with all the rest original HW. Keep ya posted.Less jewellery, more gold into electrotech industry! Half of the computer problems is caused by bad contacts

No idea, too many micro SMD components. I've been using two 150W transformer irons so may have heated it quite extensivelly

I don't even dare to say what the problem was after all.
First, I have these cheap high-density memories. They need command rate 2T and disabled bank interleaving if you want to use 4 of them. I forgot so each time the board POSTed with safe settings (after clearing CMOS), it POSTED, other than that, it have not.
Scond, one of the moduels just failed, the memories heat quite extensively here, it copes with what dad told me - first, the PC jsut dropped off. Than it started having some POST problems, finaly they gave uit to a guy to fix it and not sooner than that I got it in this state. I have brought you a mistery item
This laptop have come with some strange faults.
1. CMOS battery was flat 0v
Symptoms:
- After using the laptop and shutting down and removing the AC adapter for at least 1 minute, the laptop never turned on until EC reset (either shorting RTC or removing battery and long pressing power button)
Amp drawing was stuck at 0.005 milliamps.
- Laptop cannot really be turned off because it autostarts about 5 sec-1 or 2 minute. (lid sw is not the problem)
After inverstigation RTCD1 diode had a low value... -

I managed to semi-kill an ASRock N100M board after updating Bios from 1.10 to 2.01. It's a zombie now, dead, but not dead.
ASRock N100M special features:
- CPU soldered to board, small Intel 12th gen
- iGPU
- four POST LEDs
Problem after updating Bios to 2.01 using the in-Bios update tool: no picture, no boot.
I am not sure anymore if it booted at least once successfully after updating the bios to 2.01, maybe not, I can't remember. I think it did not.
Symptoms:
- no picture/signal on any of the display connectors,... -

I'm trying desperately to revive a ThinkStation P720 that I purchased from a seller who claims it suffered a "failed firmware update."
When given power, the machine turns on, spins up fans, beeps a single time, fans slow down, then a beep code is sounded repeatedly (3 high/short tones, 1 low/long tone).

Things I have tried:
1. Reseated all components, pulled everything except for 2 RAM modules (1 per CPU)

I post my problem here because I think it could be a capacitor related issue (Asus support on this particular subject is non-existing).
So the computer is a Zephyrus-S17-GX735LXS-26T and the strange behavior is seen.
On cold start most of the time the internal screen is detected and a picture it works fine until shutdown, sleep or deep sleep.
Then the screen won't work for a long period of time.
If I wait 1 or 2 hours it work again most of the time.
When it doesn't work the batterie indicator blink 3 times white stop and the same schematic is repeated... -
Hi everyone, I have an Inspiron 7506 laptop I've had for a few years, and it'd occasionally have a problem where after I'd power it off, it wouldn't turn on again unless I disconnected, drained residual voltage by pressing the power button, and reconnected the battery. It now seems to be occurring every single time I shut down the laptop and attempt to turn it back on again. I have done all the common troubleshooting steps, such as completely disconnecting the battery & CMOS battery and draining the voltage and leaving it for an hour, and I've even replaced the battery.
