    Asus P8P67 Evo

Hello, recently i acquired an Asus P8P67 Evo, the board does not post and gets stuck on initialising the cpu (according to the error LED's). the CPU does get power and i have absolutely no idea what to do, all i know is that a PCI card was pulled from the board while running.

Quite possibly the incorrect removal of a card during power on caused damage to the chipset. Unlikely to be an easy fix, unfortunately.

acting on the assumption it is a damaged chipset, how hard would it be to replace it with only a hot air rework station and a heater for the underside of the board?

It's doable, apparently. Not easy though. You would need practice and learning the characteristics of your tools first to have a good chance of success. BGA is easy to screw up. Hopefully there is something else you can try first, but I wouldn't know where to start. Someone else can probably give advice there.

          before you do anything rash,
it's more likely the card was pulled at an angle & shorted some connections together.
i'd get a copy of the pci pinout,
and then power the board up wihout a cpu (for safety) and probe all the supply voltages on the pci slot.
it could just be a blown transistor or regulator.

So you're saying its possible the chipset or other essential components are not getting power, should check that out, thanks for the help! This is my first time doing anything but recapping
