    Dell Perc 5i Model UCS-51

The 2 Green Sanyo caps are swollen and I wish to replace them (the board does not work anymore and throws an error that I believe is related to the caps). The problem is that I cannot find someone who sells the capacitor in the USA. Ebay pulls up several companies out of Hong Kong that are selling capacitors that look like the ones on the board, but I am not sure and concerned about fakes.

    It has qty: 2
Sanyo WF Series Capacitors (I believe these are ME-WF)
    6.3V
    1500uF
    10x12.5mm
    0.018 ohm ESR (100kHz, 20C) (From ME-WF Spec sheet)
    1760mA ripple current (100kHz, 105C) (From ME-WF Spec sheet)

I cant get good pictures, but here is the writing on both sides...
    Side 1:
    Sanyo
    1500uF
    6.3V
    Side 2:
    105C
    S.E.6D
    WF

I see that Bad Caps has 2 capacitors that are similar size, voltage, and capacitance but they have a lower ESR and higher ripple current.

    Questions:
What capacitor do people recommend (I could probably lay the capacitor over if I cannot find one in the same size. If the capacitor is taller than 13mm, it will hit the computer case)?
With ESR and ripple current, what is better, higher or lower values?

Do not buy caps on ebay, done it myself and I'm not a happy camper.

Anyway, a direct replacement is Nichicon Hn in 10x12.5 mm but considering that these Dell cards boils the Sanyo Wf I would 'upgrade' them to Nichicon Hz in 10x12.5 that has a higher rippel current at 2280 and a lower impedance of 0.012. Pretty sure the card would handle the lower impedance quite well.

Ripple should be the same or higher.
ESR should be the same or less.

I have the same card and took a few pictures of it.

Re: Dell Perc 5i Model UCS-51

I just wanted to put a quick note for anybody searching on how to repair this board. At my work, we have this board in apx. 200 servers. That board had died on 15+ servers over the few years they have been running. A few days ago, I ordered 30+ new capacitors (The ones suggested by Gabriel) and fixed all the dead boards. Every one of them went from not working to back and alive. (Was able to move about 60GB around in testing with no problems, when before the board wouldn't even let the machine past POST).

So if you have one of these boards, don't hesitate to get the new capacitors and get your board back up and running. I desoldered the capacitor and just pulled one leg out then the other, then heated up the back side of the solder hole and pushed a safety pin though the front to clear the solder. Then installed the two new capacitors a quick dab of solder and they were back up and running.

      Hope that helps somebody.

      Laters,
      David

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
        by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

        Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

        The power/battery...

        Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
        by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

Dell Inspiron 5590 Board 18778-1 no charging, charging not possible
        by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

        Dell 5410 greyed out BT
        by OntarioTL
Well I've learned something new today. Of all the Dell laptops I've come across I have never seen bluetooth greyed out, and only to learn this is during the build from Dell factory. I've tried to pull the original BIOS and fix with another dell with the same issue on the forums, however the original was not recovered from the forum upgrade so I cannot do a comparison to attempt the fix on my own.

If someone could help me out with this unit and I'll try the next one as so far I have 2 on my desk with this issue. Thanks in advance!
