Nich VR are 85*C General purpose caps, and are totally unsuitable for use on a GPU.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Really? The one on the back there is a nichicon VR and it came stock on the card so I figured it would be alright to use them. Are they unsuitable because of ESR or because they are rated at 85C?

        Re: Fixed FX 5200

Both. If the manufacturer used an 85*C cap, they should be shot.

Hmmm, okay. Yeah that 100uF 10V cap in the back that came on the card is an 85C VR

It's probably in a non-critical area, which is why they got away with it, but the skywells are in the VRM, where GP caps are not suitable.

Then, again its a passively cooled card which was probably meant for a low-performance system. It's not unrealistic to put an 85 in there, but just one hot summer and your nephew coming over to try and play a 3D game the system can't really handle, and... Well you know.

They should be shot for using 'lytics on a video card in the first place. At least ASUS has a clue (yay for FPCAP!).

It's a pretty low power card...shouldn't get too hot
