A-open XC-cube usb device not recognized.

My HTPC has started saying that when i put any usb in, it says it when i try my phone or a usb flash drive, but weirdly the usb receiver for the wireless mouse works fine?

I noticed a while ago that my usb powered external hdd would make weird noises like it was under powered so i had to use a Y splitter to feed it power from 2 usb slots.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

    Its a A-open xc-cube EZ661

Happens on the front and back usb ports.

Hmm, i will get the dmm on it tomorrow. Hope its not because its not a normal psu.

All caps on the mobo "look" ok, but not checked the psu.

      Thank you kc8adu.

Thats what I was thinking, some kind of 'overload'.

Is it possible that you might have zapped the USB port? :/

If there are bad caps in the PSU, then you should list them here, for other web-browsing computer-fixing folks in the future

I haven't seen many issues with badcaps in slim desktops yet on the web.

Turned out to be the xp installation, switched hdd priority and booted into win 7 and it works fine.

Asus X99-pro/usb 3.1 Usb overcurrent device reoccurring issue
            by Yolofolkss
Hi this is a really odd case.
I have removed all of the esd ic for USB 3.0 and 2.0
I measured all of the data lines and 5v usb voltage lines there are no shorts
all of the USB ports have no damage
Clearing the bios using the jumper wont help.

it is still showing USB overcurrent device

the only temporary fix I've tried and worked so far is flashing the bios
            and the error is gone
but when you start the motherboard with a USB device still attached
the USB over current device error is back. the bios needs to be externally flashed...

Crest Smart Home Single Power Adaptor SHSPM1 (rebadged Tuya device) - bad cap causing failure, how to repair
            by mrdevil
            Hi all,

Wanted to share this as I couldn't find anything on the internet about this problem, so pulled one apart and found the problem myself. Years ago I bought approx 20 or so Crest Smart Home Single Power Adapter smart switches - small 240v Tuya-compatible (rebranded) smart switch devices with power monitoring, which Big W had on sale for half price. Paid $7.50 each for these, and they've been incredibly useful for turning things on and off remotely... and monitoring how much power each device uses.

However, after about 12 months, I had a number of these stop working...

how to install gl usb2.0 uvc camera device driver on windows 10
            by bohaboha
Hello all am trying to reinstall my AMCAP Microscope on windows 10 but it is not working anymore. But the cam and the drivers are present in the Device Manager but there it saysWindows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) the drivers is : gl usb2.0 uvc camera device driver and i also get this mesage: Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error.
but it is quite strange because it did work on this same OS for one week ago and even for sometimes ago on that same but now nix.
            any help?

ideapad 15imh05 Intermittant no audio device
            by liquidzorch
I have an ideapad gaming 3 15imh05 here that has an intermittant issue with audio. The device will dissapear from device manager randomly. Most of the time it does not work. I have tested the continuity of the SDATA_IN, HDA_SDOUT_AUDIO, HDA_BITCLK_AUDIO, and HDA_SYNC_AUDIO, all to the pch (or the resistors near it), and all lines are good. They have no voltage though ( I have not been able to test when it's working). HDA_RST# from the pch only goes to a capactor to ground and that's it, so it's not used. What other lines should I check? What lines ares used to detect the device?
            Thanks in...
