    Gigabyte 8IHXP

A P4 mainboard, pictures courtesy of user mrzeld from DFI forum.

I dont really blame the MB manufacturer (Giga-byte 8IHXP). it was a really great MB while it lasted. i ran seti@home 24/7 for about 3 years on it. that is what i think killed it. sure it could have used better caps, but i never let it rest either (except for turning it off occasionally while i was on vacation).

His post and opinions stated above clearly say that people are somewhat used to the idea that computers won't last.

With opinions like these it is no wonder the computer companies don't pay attention to the caps issues. Why they should? If the mobo die, user have to buy a new one - good for bussines - bad for user...

      Re: Gigabyte 8IHXP

There appears to be one failed Ruby MBZ (?) next to two good Sango WGs - probably due to the cascading effect of the other failed caps. However, all the WGs on Vcore are intact - the less-stressed caps (Nichicon HN/HN?) on the VRM input seem to have failed. That would point to bad caps in the PSU secondary-side.

That's probably GSC too - I've seen them on GigaByte boards before, they look like Rubycon at first sight, until you see the brand on the other side

Power supply caps need to be checked. Common cause.

These boards came with variations of GSC, OST, GLuxon and Choyo amongst the Sanyo's (sometimes PaniFJ) (on the 2.1 revision anyway)
See https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=376 for my experience recapping this board. Still going strong.
Since recapping, it has never been so stable.

GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2 - Stuck at Debug Code C2 - don't like Patriot Viper Steel RAM but works with G.SKILL
                by DynaxSC
                Hi,

I discovered a strange behaviour of GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2 board.

                General test conditions:
                - Tested with Core i5 6500 and Core I7 6700K - no difference
                - Default BIOS settings, but tried also altering several memory setting - does not change anything

                What is wrong:

With BIOS F1 and F2 the board normally POST's and boots to Windows 11 with 2 x Patriot Viper Steel PVS416G440C9K RAM (4400MHZ, Samsung B-Die chips)

When BIOS upgraded to anything above F2 (ie. F20-F27b) the board POST stucks after 3 Debug Codes on Code C2

                A Dead/DOA Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU
                by momaka
More eBay specials: this time a Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU for $8 with free S&H. Listed “For part/not working”, as usual. Showed up in a beat up EVGA box without any padding… but that's understandable given the total price. PSU made it out fine without damage. It's a non-modular (yay!), pretty modern-day looking PSU with a black paint and all black cables (meh, not my favorite, but figure it's good to keep a few of these in case I do need one for a more modern PC build, just so my old gray boxes don't look too odd in there.)
