      With an ohm meter, every lead should be "open" or very very high resistance with respect to every other lead. The same should be true with a diode checker except if you connect the "+" lead to the Source and the "-" lead to the drain: that should read like a diode. This assumes an N-channel MOSFET; with a P-channel, the polarity of the diode checker leads would be reversed.

        It lives!





        Works great, even with the busted up MOSFET situation... the jumper wire appears to be holding up . It's installing WinXP now, ready to start stress testing!
