    E-Machines T1742/Imperial GL_VE

My daughters e-machine finally quit. Runs for short period, then shuts off. This Imperial board has 8mm 6.3v 1500mf caps marked TMS. the nine caps involved in voltage regulator ckts near the heat sinks had bulged and leaked . Machine is about 4 yrs old and runs constantly. Replacing of these is in progress.

    this is very common.
these seem to take damage to other areas too.
i see these run everything but the fans when off and fry the cpu and vrm's.

TMS = Total Monkey Shit. Emachines = CRAP. You obviously don't love your daughter if you gave her an eMachine. jk

Actually newer emachines are not crap, they use off the shelf parts, so if you don't like the power supply in your emachine you can pick up one from a vendor and slap it in.

I had an Emachine recently that had an intermittent PS. Because the PS was a non standard size I changed the case and PS. All is now fine.

I've just considered emachines crap, a few yrs ago my school bought like 4 or 5 of tehm and only one is still working. I dunno what problem, i have yet to open the boxes.

Yep. But those are the Athlon-based versions. The AMD versions appear to use better components.

the amd versions i see here are pcchips looking boards with exploded ost caps.
                    emachines=cheap crap.
you get what you pay for.
and as far as as the op giving an emachines system to his daughter=lack of love i wouldnt go there.
many folks find out the hard way about substandard products ala emachines, packard bell, yugo, ect.

if you recap it now and toss that bestec psu while you are at it it will likely be ok.

The A64 are using MSI with onboard ATi chipset.

The Athlon XP eMachines PC that someone brought in for me to remove malware from is MSI.
Even the MOSFETs were heatsinked! Dunno about the cap manufacturer, but they appeared to be fine.

                              OLD eMachines T6520 BIOS Request!
                              by grimacelord
                              Hello,

I know that this is probably a long shot, but I figured if anyone could find this BIOS, it would be you guys.

I am working on an (old) eMachines T6520 desktop PC that might have a corrupt BIOS.

                              Model:
                              eMachines T6520

                              Motherboard markings:
                              MS-7145B0505068731
                              RS480M
                              7145 v2.1 RS480-A21+SB400-A23

                              Symptoms:
The computer does power on, CPU fan spins, but does not POST. No display.

                              Troubleshooting steps so far:
Replaced the CMOS battery (which was in need of replacing)
                              Re-seating...

I decided to see what kind of "sleeper" build I could do on the Emachines T3104 from cheep/free thread with the "random junk" I had laying around (with the exception of a SATA to IDE adaptor I bought to make the original Emachines optical drive to work).

Good evening I am working on a Reebok oneGT40s treadmill. It had a flashing display which the replacement of D3 rectified. However the lift motor now runs when the mains is turned on and does not stop. If I then select start so the tread motor runs and disconnect the up lead to the lift motor it stops. If I then reconnect the lead the lift motor works as it should with the controls. It will continue to work correctly until the mains is turned off and on again, or the safety device is removed and replaced. It then runs again and only by disconnecting and reconnecting the up lead will it operate...
