I have a Speedstream 5100 dsl modem that I just replaced all the GLuxon caps with Nichicon HMs. Unfortunately, it now has a high pitched while that developed about an hour after plugging it in. It still works (I'm on this forum) but I'm worried something is very wrong. I checked all the joints & polarity and they look fine. Anything else I should check?

Re: high pitched whine after DSL modem recap
High pitched whine is not necessarily a serious problem, if there is no other apparent failure.
In fact it is very common for any switching circuit working in voltage controlled mode and light load, which most of the simple step down converter actually do.
For an solution you cans soak the coils with car motor sealant spray, epoxy or anything else. Let it cure before using it again, -

Nichicon HM(M) caps?? You may have just gone from bad to worse. The HN and HM series are both known to be junk.<--- Badcaps.net Founder

by JDCIssue: Funai FW55D25F - High Pitched Squeal Upon Power-on.
Solution: Replace C3208 and C3209 on main board. These are surface mounted capacitors. Values unknown so I just used same physical size capacitors from a donor board. -
by oldmanhouseHi folks, I have an issue with my 7 year old Panasonic TX-L50B6B that has appeared within the last few days.
The symptoms are:
- A high pitched "buzzing" / "whining" noise coming from the TV when it is turned on. There is no noise during standby, and the noise persists with all AV connections removed.
- There are noticable horizontal lines in the picture. Upon closer inspection it looks like every few rows of pixels are dead/black.
Attached is a close-up of the picture in "test mode", to demonstrate the rows of black lines.

by Camarada78Hello,
I have a MXR Guitar Pedal here that turns on, passes audio but does not add the effect. It has a high pitched squeal that varies tone depending on delay speed.
Its a analog delay pedal using four BBD (BL3208A), one compander (SA571D), one clock (cd4047), one TL082 and one 33178.
This pedal is prone to some issues (ESD), but i replaced the common faulty transistors and the problem remained. In fact, the original ones were still good (tested on component tester).
Anyone familiar with this pedal to give me some light?

Hi! I have a hisense 55h6sg TV here and I'm going to start a thread in the TV repair sections tomorrow, properly.
But out of curiosity, what would make a high pitched whine in the power supply? I thought it was coil-whine, but seeing how it keeps blowing the same 1 watt resistor next to the primary capacitors, I'm starting to think it has something to do with one of the transformers.
Would a transformer ever make such a noise like that? Kinda cool to hear the resistor explode. Put a fire proof little guy, 1 watt in there and it sounded like a .22 cal going off!... -
by sam_sam_samI have a battery operated tab welder and the battery does not have enough current for the battery tab welder because after about 30 welded it does not have the same current output it voltage has gone down by at least 0.500 volts or maybe a more than that
I can fit 21700 battery cells in the enclosure it is very tight fit for four of them that are 35 amp high current capacity 35X4=140 high current output this should work a lot better than what is installed right now
I tested the battery cells there are installed right now and they are testing good with no issues that I... - Loading...
